Chapter 128 - Chapter 128: Master-Pet Dynamics

Sirius Black never in his life thought—

That his simple desire to watch his godson's Quidditch match, of which he was so proud, would end with him being stuffed into a burlap sack.

But what he truly couldn't have imagined—

Was that one day he would find himself inside the Slytherin girls' dormitory.

When he woke up from unconsciousness to find himself surrounded by silver and green decorations, his pupils practically quaked with horror.

He shot up as if spring-loaded, a shiver of revulsion running through his fur. He felt as though his entire being had been contaminated.

Unfortunately, his body was still restrained, preventing him from escaping. All he could do was lift his head and let out a long, angry bark to express his indignation.

He felt filthy! He had betrayed the Marauders! He had tarnished the honor of Gryffindor!

And the Slytherin girl who had dragged him back as if he were just some ordinary dog—

Was now running her hands all over him, brushing his fur and kneading him!

Slytherins truly had no moral compass!

Though, admittedly, her technique was rather... intoxicating—

But this was a Slytherin! Who knew what sinister schemes she might be plotting?

He, Sirius Black, the proud leader of the Marauders, could not allow himself to be swayed by the enemy's sugar-coated traps!

Wait... what was that smell? His mouth began to water...

He felt his reason and emotions waging war within him, but a bowl of fragrant dog food utterly demolished his defenses—

His mouth, as if acting on its own, dove into the bowl and devoured the food;

His tail, equally rebellious, wagged so vigorously it nearly turned into a propeller, thumping against the walls with loud "thuds."

And his brain, traitorous as it was, whispered to him—

Perhaps staying here for a while wouldn't be so bad... after all, he still needed to find an opportunity... to deal with that rat... when the time was right...

Besides, back in Azkaban, he had read about this little snake in a newspaper tossed to him by Fudge during an inspection.

Attending court as a witness for justice, only to be cursed by a criminal...

Though she was a Slytherin, he couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for her.

This was, of course, purely out of fairness and justice, and had nothing to do with... the pleasant scent of her shampoo... or how nice it felt to be scrubbed...

But the next moment—

"Do you think the wizarding world has any pet clinics that perform neutering on dogs?"

Wait, what did she just say???

Realizing what she meant, Sirius leapt three feet into the air, his tail tucked firmly between his legs, letting out a terrified yelp.

His limbs flailed in a frantic doggy paddle as he slid out of the bathtub, still covered in soap suds, crashing and stumbling as he tried to escape this terrifying place!

His instincts screamed that if he stayed even a second longer, he would lose his dignity forever!

This was pure Slytherin evil! What justice? What pity?

She was the devil incarnate!

But the wicked serpent wasn't about to let him off so easily. A Binding Charm pinned him firmly to the ground.

He howled desperately, trying to frighten off this young Slytherin snake—

But his struggles were futile.

Resigned to his fate, he closed his eyes, feeling as though his life as a dog was about to end, and with it, all hope.

Yet he could hear the unmistakable sound of laughter in the air.

Of course, it was the despicable Slytherins!

Caught between despair and anger, he let out two furious barks and turned his head away, lying on the ground in a sulk.

But as he turned, his gaze fell upon a silver fabric lying on the bed.

Merlin's beard! Wasn't that his late brother-in-arms James Potter's heirloom treasure?

No wonder he'd felt like he'd slammed into something invisible before losing consciousness!

Unable to resist, he crawled over on all fours, sniffing the fabric carefully—

Thanks to his keen canine sense of smell, he detected traces of his beloved godson Harry, as well as the scent of the Slytherin girl in front of him.

But the mingling of these two scents only deepened his confusion, fear, and bewilderment.

He wanted nothing more than to rush to Godric's Hollow, kneel before James and Lily's graves, and knock his head against their tombstones in repentance for failing to properly educate their son Harry, allowing the innocent boy to be so easily deceived by a Slytherin snake, even losing the Invisibility Cloak to her!

He had failed his dear brother!

With tears welling up in his eyes, Sirius picked up a chew stick wrapped in jerky, now slick with his drool.

He gnawed on it furiously, glaring at Jane Yu every so often, determined to enact his revenge through sheer willpower.

You think (chomp chomp) this beef-flavored Slytherin (chomp chomp) is so tasty (chomp chomp)!

In short, though his spirit remained unyielding, his flesh had already surrendered. The entire dog adapted well to life in the Slytherin girls' dormitory, enjoying food and drink, and even forming a strong friendship with Jane Yu's Niffler and owl—mainly because they occasionally plucked his fur to line their nests.

...

Jane Yu was quite satisfied with the arrangement.

This stray dog had been wild and untrained when she first caught him, wary to the point of refusing to show her his belly, and howling like a wolf at times.

But under her unbeatable dog-petting techniques, he had surrendered, his eyes half-closed in bliss, drool dripping from his mouth.

And with the allure of dog food, he seemed to have completely let down his guard, his tail wagging furiously.

Though he still occasionally looked at her with a complex expression, she had heard this was a sign of high intelligence and emotional connection in pets.

He strongly resisted bath time, clinging to the edge of the tub with all four limbs and howling as if terrified.

But that was normal—some cats and dogs simply hated water and baths.

Jane Yu pondered her next steps—

According to the rules she remembered from her past life, when adopting a stray cat or dog, it was best to take them to a pet clinic for a check-up, vaccinations, and neutering when appropriate.

Unfortunately, the wizarding world didn't seem to offer such services, and the dog appeared highly resistant to the idea of neutering, reacting as if traumatized.

—So she had to abandon the thought.

After a few hours of training, the big dog adapted well. Not only did he learn to use pee pads for bathroom needs, but he also mastered tricks like spinning, shaking hands, and rolling over. He relaxed enough to lie belly-up in his suitcase-turned-dog bed, snoring away.

Judging by how quickly he picked up the bad habit of playing video games, his high intelligence was undeniable.

All in all, he was a low-maintenance dog. Apart from being a bit too skinny and eating three times as much as other dogs, he had excellent hygiene habits and no major issues.

Both sides were pleased with each other, and their human-pet relationship became wonderfully harmonious.
