Chapter 268 - CHAPTER 268

Funny Fox

In his sleep, Naruto's consciousness was enveloped by the chakra of the tailed beast, and he found himself in a dark, damp space.

"Where is this?"

Naruto was a bit confused, but after looking around, he quickly pieced together the answer.

The water beneath his feet, the massive cage in front of him, and the distant growl of a beast all indicated that he was no longer in his own room, but inside the space where the Nine-Tails, Kurama, was sealed.

After so many years, have I finally met Kurama?

Muttering to himself, Naruto took a few steps forward. Using the faint light from a nearby candle, he finally saw the Nine-Tails clearly.

Kurama, the Nine-Tails, was enormous and majestic, with fiery red fur, slender ears, and nine massive tails swaying freely behind her. Though sealed, she was still larger than most creatures—her body stretching well over ten meters long, exuding an aura of power capable of easily destroying a child like Naruto.

As though sensing his presence, Kurama slowly turned around, her huge, glowing eyes fixated on Naruto.

Staring up at the gigantic beast, Naruto froze, paralyzed with fear. His breath caught in his throat, unable to move.

Kurama's lips curled into a slight grin, and a small ball of her chakra slipped through the bars of the cage, engulfing Naruto's body.

Hatred. Resentment. Anger…

The Nine-Tails' chakra began to bring out Naruto's suppressed negative emotions, amplifying them in his mind. Memories of his past—the pain of losing his parents, witnessing the deaths of the Fourth Hokage and his wife, and the years of neglect and abuse in the village—flashed before his eyes. His expression turned wild as if he might be consumed by the rage and become a beast of destruction himself.

But then, his willpower kicked in.

Naruto took a deep breath, grounding himself. He wasn't the child he used to be. While he might have been susceptible to Kurama's full strength in her prime, right now, he only faced a fraction of her power, weakened by the seal.

Kurama, surprised by the young child's ability to resist, growled lowly. The chakra she had released was only a small portion of her vast strength, yet she didn't expect Naruto to hold his ground.

After a brief moment, she spoke again, her voice tinged with annoyance.

"You're right, brat. I am the reason you're called a demon fox. I once destroyed most of Konoha and killed the Fourth Hokage."

She paused, and then continued, "As my jinchūriki, you are the object of their hatred."

"Go on, hate me. Let your anger consume you. Let the villagers see what you're capable of. Accept my power, and together we can destroy them."

Kurama's chakra swirled around Naruto, trying to tempt him into giving in to the anger.

Naruto, however, simply shook his head, unbothered by the words.

"You're mistaken," he said. "If you truly had the power to destroy everything, you wouldn't be trapped in here. If you were that powerful, this cage wouldn't even exist."

"You...!" Kurama roared, her fury shaking the entire sealed space. Despite her rage, she couldn't break the seal; no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape.

After the commotion died down, Kurama fell silent, and Naruto stared back at her, both locked in a tense stand-off.

For a long while, Kurama tried to influence him, sending waves of chakra to manipulate his emotions, but Naruto resisted it.

Finally, breaking the silence, Naruto said, "Give it up, Kurama. I don't know who sealed you in my body, but they must've known you wouldn't be able to escape. No matter how hard you try, it's useless."

He paused and then added, "I'm used to people treating me badly. I've been called a demon fox my entire life. It doesn't bother me anymore."

Kurama said nothing, knowing Naruto was right. She couldn't escape unless Naruto removed the seal, and at this moment, she had no control over him.

Naruto continued with a smirk, "Speaking of which, you're still my tenant. You live in my body, and yet I haven't even asked you for rent yet."

Kurama's eyes flashed with annoyance, "Do you really think I'm willing to be sealed inside you?"

Naruto shot back, "Do you think I'm thrilled to be the container for your chakra? We're both stuck in this situation. I won't ask you for rent, but don't think you can get out of it that easily."

Kurama snorted in frustration, but then continued, "You really don't want my power, do you? I could help you take revenge on everyone who's ever wronged you. I've seen how they treat you. I know how unfair it is."

Naruto thought for a moment. "I've been mistreated a lot, sure. They call me a demon fox, so maybe I should act like one. But monsters don't fear humans. Humans should fear me."

As Naruto spoke, he suddenly turned to Kurama with suspicion. "Wait a minute... you've been watching me this whole time? Including when I bathe or... go to the bathroom?"

Kurama was caught off guard. "I don't observe you all the time! I'm not some pervert. And besides, I have no interest in human bodies."

Naruto grinned. "What about foxes?"

Kurama's face darkened, and she growled, "Shut up, brat! I'm not interested in female foxes. I'm Kurama, a life form made entirely of chakra!"

Naruto laughed, "So, are you a male fox or a female fox?"

Kurama was momentarily stumped, and she decided to ignore Naruto's teasing. She turned her head, facing the wall in silence.

Naruto blinked, then shrugged. "Tailed beasts are so fragile when it comes to jokes."
