Kenpachi Chengdui had not used any of the special techniques unique to Shinigami, such as Kidō or Bakudō. Nor could he have. The moment Qin Yi stepped into the Soul Society, he had already devised his battle plan:
A relentless clash of blades. He would abandon everything, even his life, to cut down his opponent!
Even if it meant mutual destruction!
This unwavering determination to fight to the death had concentrated his Essence, Energy, Soul, pushing his strength to the peak of his lifetime. During the battle, he had even been unable to feel pain.
Finally, he had triumphed. The brief, decisive battle had achieved his objective.
At that moment, an overwhelming pain and exhaustion sank deep into his soul, causing his vision to blur. This feeling of weakness was entirely new to him, and this was the first time he had ever experienced it in his life.
"Unbelievable!"
"To think the madman Kenpachi Chengdui would be cut down like this."
"What I find even more curious is how a mere mortal could possess such immense power."
"Heh heh, it's imperative we dissect him for research, Captain!"
The massive Reiatsu drew closer, and the voices of the approaching group reached Qin Yi's ears.
He thrust his Sword into the ground, his entire body slowly bleeding out. The seal from Kenpachi Chengdui's final strike remained, preventing him from using his True Essence to recover.
"This man's identity is highly suspicious. Arrest him and hand him over to Central 46 of the Court of Pure Souls for trial!" An aged voice followed immediately, accompanied by the thud-thud of a cane striking the ground.
Qin Yi stood there, his vision blurred and his spirit so weak he was on the verge of collapse. Nearly forty percent of his blood had drained from his body, leaving him pale-faced, dizzy, and even feeling his life force seeping away.
'Is this the end?'
'I—!'
Qin Yi strained to open his eyes, but darkness still shrouded his vision.
'Yuanli, did you see that?'
'This emperor... has avenged you!'
Faint footsteps drew closer, growing steadily louder. Qin Yi remained rooted to the spot, motionless, as if already devoid of consciousness.
"Even on the verge of death, he stands upright. There's an indescribable presence about him!" Kyōraku Shunsui remarked casually, his face hidden beneath a straw hat, a smile playing on his lips.
"Personally, I believe a man like this is destined for greatness," Kyōraku continued.
Aizen Sōsuke narrowed his eyes and smiled faintly.
"He's on the verge of death," he said.
Kotetsu Isane replied indifferently, "In the Soul Society, even if he wants to die, you all have ways to prevent it, don't you?"
Ichimaru Gin grinned like a fox.
Two other Captains stepped forward, ready to apprehend Qin Yi.
"What about Captain Kenpachi Chengdui? Is there any hope for him? Look at the state he's in!" Kyōraku Shunsui glanced at the ground, where Kenpachi Chengdui lay motionless with wide-open eyes, appearing lifeless, and asked.
"His Reiatsu is still present, and his Zanpakutō hasn't shattered," Mayuri said. "I'll piece him back together. Heh heh. I've been wanting to study him for ages!"
Kurotsuchi Mayuri chuckled, his greedy eyes fixed on Kenpachi Chengdui.
Among the Captains, Kenpachi Chengdui was undoubtedly the most insane and one of the most formidable experts. For the Twelfth Division's Technology Development Bureau, studying such a man was an exhilarating prospect.
But just then, the Captains suddenly froze.
A black shadow streaked past at lightning speed, and before either Captain could react, it had hoisted Qin Yi's limp body over its shoulder, spun around, and leaped high into the air, sprinting across the sky.
"Eleventh Division's former Captain, Kenpachi Zaraki!" Kuchiki Byakuya declared coldly, instantly recognizing the figure already hundreds of meters away.
None of the assembled Captains spoke, and no one moved.
Captain Yamamoto frowned, his cane striking the ground with a dull thud.
"What are you all standing around for? Go arrest Kenpachi Zaraki immediately!"
"Has that kid gone mad? Helping a mortal from outside the Soul Society!"
The Captains finally began to move, but their movements were slow and deliberate, a stark contrast to their earlier urgency. It was clear they had no interest in arresting Qin Yi.
Kenpachi Zaraki sprinted through the narrow alleys of the Soul Society, his figure a blur of motion.
As he passed an opening, a figure leaped onto his shoulder.
"Kenpachi, have you lost your mind? Why are you saving this guy!"
"Yachiru!" Kenpachi Zaraki recognized the newcomer and called out.
"This kid may be reckless, but he saved my life. I'm just repaying the debt."
His voice low and gruff, Kenpachi Zaraki spoke quickly as he continued his rapid advance.
"This way! I know a secret passage that leads to the Living World," Yachiru said, pointing with a finger from her perch on Kenpachi Zaraki's shoulder.
"That kid's about to kick the bucket. Mortal lifeforce is so fragile."
"It's just an Gigai(Faux Body)! If he dies, he'll easily become a Shinigami!" Yachiru chirped, answering her own question with a giggle.
"Hmph, he might even become a Hollow! Don't forget, he died at the hands of Captain Zaraki Chengdui himself!" Kenpachi Zaraki paused, then sighed. "I've never met such a madman before!"
As he spoke, he continued to sprint, his footsteps blurring into a continuous thunder.
"They're here!"
The Shinigami in the alleyway surged into motion, pursuing them rapidly.
"How much further?" Kenpachi Zaraki glanced back at the pursuing Shinigami.
"Almost there! Turn left at the next intersection, and we're out," Yachiru replied.
Kenpachi Zaraki lowered his head and charged forward, pushing his speed to the absolute limit. The scenery blurred into distorted streaks on either side of his face. After a dozen seconds, he leaped high, soaring out of the Gotei Thirteen and landing in the wilderness beyond.
"Right there!" Yachiru pointed urgently at a garden.
Zaraki sprinted toward it.
"Open!"
The trio quickly arrived. Yachiru pressed her hands against the ground, and a dark, hidden passage immediately appeared.
Kenpachi Zaraki leaped into the passage without hesitation.
Half an hour later, the pair emerged into the sky above the Living World.
"Now they'll never find us!"
Finding a Shinigami in the Living World was far more difficult than in the Soul Society.
"Go find Urahara Kisuke," Yachiru said. "He's the only one who can save this kid now!"
"Mm!" Kenpachi Zaraki nodded.
The two raced toward Urahara Kisuke's location. Since being ousted as Captain by Kenpachi Chengdui, Kenpachi Zaraki had undergone many changes, one of which was his acquaintance with Urahara Kisuke.
A few minutes later, they met up with Urahara Kisuke.
"Bring this kid back to life," Kenpachi Zaraki barked as he strode into the room, casually tossing Qin Yi to the floor.
Opposite him stood Urahara Kisuke, with sunglasses perched on his nose, clad in an eccentric formal robe, and a fan in his hand.
"Yo yo yo, Captain Zaraki! What brings you here today?" Urahara Kisuke teased, glancing down at the figure on the floor.
When he saw Qin Yi lying there with his eyes tightly shut and his body crisscrossed with bloody marks, Urahara Kisuke's heart jolted.
"What a domineering presence! His Aura is even more intense than that kid's! He's a born king!"
At that moment, a figure clad in a black Shihakushō and wearing a skull mask suddenly entered through the side door.
"Mr. Urahara, this training is too difficult! I can barely maintain it for an hour now," the skull-masked figure complained.
As he spoke, his gaze fell upon Qin Yi. He froze, his crimson eyes narrowing sharply.
Crack!
The skull mask shattered into pieces, crumbling into dust in an instant.
"Your Majesty!!!"
