"Boom!"
The massive meteor was shattered into dust by his single punch.
Immediately afterward, Qin Yi bent down and formed hand seals, slamming his palms onto the ground.
"Doton (Earth Release) – Super Light-Weight Rock Technique!"
"Buzz!"
Air currents surged around his body. For a moment, the swirling dust seemed to freeze, then, after a beat,
"Boom!"
A strange, turbulent energy wave burst out in all directions. This wave of energy didn't stop until it had spread across the entire island.
It was only then that the panicked people realized: after the island's sudden acceleration, its falling speed was now beginning to slow.
"Open the octopus balloons!"
From atop a high point, Ace shouted down to the others below.
The people of Skypiea snapped out of their daze. In this life-or-death moment, they instinctively scrambled toward the supports they'd buried earlier and began opening the octopus balloons.
"Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!"
The sound of balloons inflating echoed rapidly across the island. After a dozen or so seconds, Ace looked around from above and saw the entire island dotted with swaying balloons.
Once all the octopus balloons had been deployed, the island's descent speed slowed even more.
Qin Yi took a deep breath. He didn't relax; instead, he shot into the air and flew straight beneath Skypiea.
"At the same height, the falling speed of objects doesn't vary much with mass! We still need to apply an external force!"
Of course, Qin Yi understood this principle; anyone who had studied junior high school physics would.
Although the island's fall had slowed for a moment, without continued intervention, it would quickly accelerate again and reach terminal velocity.
He became a streak of light, circling once around the island before diving underneath it.
"Doton (Earth Release) – Super Light-Weight Rock Technique!"
He cast the jutsu again, plunging both hands into the bottom of the island, and once again, the massive floating landmass shuddered with a mighty tremor.
Qin Yi gritted his teeth, standing directly beneath the island, supporting it with all his strength.
And so, under these extreme circumstances, the enormous Island of the Gods began to fall once again.
Half an hour later, the people of Skypiea looked down and saw the vast ocean below them, its undulating waves stretching endlessly across the horizon. The immense, breathtaking seascape left every single person in awe.
"This... this is our old homeland? The Blue Sea?"
Wyper and the other Shandia warriors stared blankly downward, unable to hold back their sighs.
"It's so beautiful!"
At the same time they marveled at the ocean, ships sailing below, pirates at sea, and the residents of Mock Town also looked up, and saw the massive island descending from the sky.
"Wh-what the hell?!"
"Oh my god, an island is falling from the sky!"
"There are people on it! Are they... angels?!"
Everyone stared in disbelief, as if witnessing something out of a fantasy or a legendary tale. The spectacle was utterly unexpected, like a scene pulled straight from a novel. After the shock wore off, reality quickly sank in, if such a massive island crashed into the ocean, the consequences would be catastrophic.
"Shit! Quick, quick! Damn it, change course now! You trying to die?!"
"This is insane, get us out of here, fast!"
"Quit gawking! If you keep standing there, we'll be meeting in hell, I'm not ready to greet the devil just after seeing angels!"
Shouts and screams filled the air. The ships that had been calmly sailing the seas now frantically reversed course, chaos erupting among them.
On the other side of Mock Town, Montblanc Cricket had just climbed onto the shore from the water, and froze in place.
"What... is that?"
Staring blankly at the sky, darkness looming above, Cricket's pupils shrank rapidly.
Gradually, as he clearly saw the scene before him, his whole body began to tremble.
"It's real! The legend is real! Everything Noland said was true!"
"The truth… has descended!"
He had spent his entire life chasing after traces, never expecting that the truth would arrive of its own accord. The once-glorious civilization that had been blasted into the sky had now, amid thunderous noise and under the shroud of darkness, returned!
Tears poured uncontrollably from his eyes. Montblanc Cricket fell to his knees, sobbing loudly.
He wasn't a liar. Noland wasn't a liar either!
"Time to retreat. From this distance, even if it falls, the impact won't be too catastrophic."
Still holding up the massive Sky Island from below, Qin Yi's eyes flickered.
The giant island was now only about a hundred meters from the ocean surface. If he didn't retreat soon, he would be crushed beneath the sea.
"But… Mock Town…"
He shook his head. Qin Yi couldn't afford to worry about that anymore. If he hesitated even a second longer, it would be too late.
Since Jaya Island had originally been blasted into the sky, the position it was falling toward now wasn't far off. Judging by sight alone, Qin Yi estimated that once the island hit the sea surface, the two halves might even reconnect into one whole island again.
He quickly withdrew and shot away, flying out from beneath the Sky Island.
And the moment his strength was removed, the entire island rumbled violently and its descent speed surged.
"Whoosh!"
In just an instant, the massive island came crashing down into the ocean.
"Splash!"
The previously calm sea was suddenly struck by an immense weight. The water's surface caved in first, then erupted upward, sending torrents of seawater cascading outward in all directions. The entire surface trembled and quaked, small vortexes forming across the ocean.
After a few breaths, the water level surged up, forming a tsunami over ten meters tall that rippled further outward.
In the spot where Montblanc Cricket stood, the water level suddenly surged, flooding toward Mock Town.
"Come on, come on!"
"Welcome home, Jaya!!"
Arms wide open, Cricket shouted in excitement, overwhelmed with emotion.
"RUMBLE!!"
The wave instantly engulfed him, along with his house, sweeping them further away into the distance.
Back in Mock Town, everyone present was almost simultaneously overwhelmed by the roaring wave. Then, one by one, they were lifted and carried by the current. Screams and shouts echoed throughout the island.
"Safe landing!"
Qin Yi hovered in the sky, overlooking the scene below: water currents surging and submerging everything. He wore a smile on his face.
In his heart, there was no guilt. In fact, he even felt a sense of pride.
Four or five hours later, everything finally settled down. As people gradually recovered, they were shocked to find, Mock Town had grown bigger.
No, rather, an island named Jaya had reappeared before everyone's eyes.
As dusk approached, in front of a black stone monument on Jaya Island, two figures stood in silence.
"So, what does the last line say?" Ace, freckles on his face and calm expression, asked softly.
"I came here, and guided this text to its end, Gol D. Roger, the Pirate King!" Robin murmured the words with a puzzled look.
"Is that so…" Ace raised his head, gazing into the distance with a complicated expression.
"You've… been here too?"
