Chapter 185 - Chapter 186: King Kong: Skull Island

Chapter 186: King Kong: Skull Island

After modifying Handsome Kong, Chang Wei didn't leave immediately. Instead, he altered the memories of the island's natives.

He realized that in the original plot—specifically, the second King Kong movie or rather the reboot Kong: Skull Island—those arrogant guys with helicopters, who bombed the mountains and flushed Kong out, hadn't arrived yet.

This gave Chang Wei an opportunity to showcase his power again… or maybe just spout nonsense?

"Still, with the whole world in chaos because of me, who knows if those people will even come to Skull Island?"

Chang Wei furrowed his brows. Right now, human society was filled with cults worshipping God, deities, and other divine figures.

Some even referred to him as the "Old God," "God of Thunder, Storms, the Sea, and War," or even "Satan."

It was all a mess. Yet, to this day, no "god" had appeared to respond, leaving the human elites secretly supporting these various religious factions completely baffled.

What did "god" even mean?

Chang Wei pondered for a moment. Whether or not someone came, he just needed to be prepared.

After modifying the memories of the natives and altering the murals on the island, he left behind a legend of a deity, further developing his "divine" persona.

When it came to deceiving people, Chang Wei thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Once he was done, he casually slaughtered a Tyrannosaurus, sliced off the tenderest cuts, and began roasting the meat.

At that moment, a group of people was approaching the island.

"As the satellite images suggest, this island is perpetually surrounded by a violent storm system, rendering it isolated from the world. No outsiders have ever set foot here."

"Why?"

A young man interrupted the man with naturally curly hair, who was enthusiastically explaining.

"Because we couldn't break through that storm barrier. But this time is different. With the American Air Force and Lieutenant Colonel Packard's helicopter squadron, we will be the first humans to set foot on this land!"

"We will be like Columbus!"

The idea that helicopters could break through the storm was utterly ridiculous, yet somehow, they succeeded.

Escorted by the helicopter squadron, they passed through the storm that separated the island from the outside world and landed.

"Welcome to the New World, everyone!"

The curly-haired man from the expedition team was visibly excited. Just by looking around, it was clear that many plants on the island were unlike anything found elsewhere. Who knew what new species they might discover?

However, while the expedition team was filled with excitement, the atmosphere around Lieutenant Colonel Packard was far more tense.

"We need to conduct an in-depth geological survey, Colonel," said Dr. Randa from Monarch Organization.

"An in-depth geological survey?"

Packard was puzzled. He had no idea why his superiors and the U.S. government were backing this operation, let alone why it was being led by a scholar.

It wasn't that he looked down on academics. In fact, he respected knowledge as much as he revered power—because he lacked both.

"That's right. Our mission here is to research and search for something."

Dr. Randa nodded.

"And what exactly are we looking for?"

Packard pressed on.

"That's classified. Sorry, Colonel."

Dr. Randa shook his head, refusing to elaborate.

Packard stared at him for a long moment.

"Begin the geological survey!"

He had no choice. Orders from above dictated that Dr. Randa was in charge of this mission, and as a soldier, he had to follow orders.

And they chose the most reckless way to conduct their survey—using explosive shockwaves.

This approach was typical of the military: efficient and time-saving. It was certainly better than having Randa lead a group of scientists lugging around precious instruments and spending days on meticulous surveys.

But this method was also brimming with arrogance—arrogance that assumed no one could question or hold them accountable.

That arrogance was about to be shattered.

As one bomb after another exploded, sending out shockwaves and massive waves of fire, anyone unaware might have thought they were dropping napalm.

The island's ancient and possibly unique flora, some potentially undiscovered species, were instantly set ablaze.

For some reason, the trees burned as if they were soaked in oil, and the fire spread rapidly through the forest.

From atop a cliff, Chang Wei had been watching the destruction unfold ever since they arrived.

"Classic American style."

Chewing on a Tyrannosaurus rib, he wondered how they would react to his modified Handsome Kong.

Just as he was thinking this, a golden light—a dazzling, blinding beam—shot in from the distance, striking the lead helicopter in an instant.

"BOOOOM!!!"

The helicopter's exterior melted at a visible speed, igniting the fuel tank and engine. It detonated in a catastrophic explosion, and since the beam itself had explosive properties, the resulting blast was far beyond what anyone expected.

The shockwave and blast force sent nearby helicopters rocking violently. One with an open door even threw out the soldiers it was carrying.

Packard had just been listening to the expedition team furiously demanding over the radio why they were bombing the island.

They were outraged by the destruction of untouched nature—especially the loss of potential new species, which could mean breakthroughs in genetics, medicine, and biotechnology.

After all, key compounds for treating AIDS and cancer had been discovered in ostrich eggs and rare tropical insects. This was why humanity advocated for the protection of endangered species—not for the animals' sake, but for humanity's future.

Who knew when a future disease might require antibodies from these nearly extinct creatures?

But after the explosion, none of that mattered anymore.

"We're under attack! We're under attack!"

"Where's the enemy? Where's the enemy?"

"Shut the f**k up and stay calm! Are you little girls with dolls?!"

Packard angrily berated his men.

Then, they saw it—a massive figure emerged before them.

A towering, 30-meter-tall black gorilla.

But something was off. This gorilla had four arms.

It looked bizarre, yet unexpectedly balanced—radiating an aura of both dominance and divinity.

In mythology, three heads and six arms symbolized the ultimate form of demon-subduing power.

"Scatter immediately and execute emergency landings! Prioritize survival! Regroup at the northern side and await reinforcements!"

Packard's mind reeled.

A Titan-class creature!

He never imagined this island would house a Titan.
