Agatha and Kai sat on a fallen tree trunk, chatting animatedly while taking care of the sleeping soft egg. Reed and Hiroshi took charge of clearing the area to set up camp, while Ethan sat in another corner to calibrate all the ancient technology needed to initiate coded communication with A.L.O. and the other heirs.
The girls, meanwhile, were getting ready to cook something delicious. Lillia washed the utensils they would use, while Bianca gathered the necessary seasonings. The busy scene, however, was accompanied by Thomas' hysterical voice:
— Do you even know what this egg will turn into!? — The boy complained, following Sete back and forth in the shelter. He remained outraged at the idea of letting the children raise a giant aquatic snake as a pet. Perhaps his excessive refusal, compared to the other heirs' resignation about the hatchling, was due to the fact that he had a phobia of reptiles in general, especially dangerous ones.
— Yes, a giant water snake, which will be perfect for guarding the waterfall passage in the future. Don't worry too much, I purified it, so it won't harm you. — Sete explained calmly as she once again moved the purified corpses of the snakes that had attacked her, as she demanded that Bianca cook the meat for them to taste. She clearly didn't have much sense of what is common or not to cook, but no one questioned her. — Can you help me here?
Thomas reached out his arms without thinking much, but almost fainted when the young deity dropped the cold, scaly body of one of the smaller snakes on them.
— I-I'd better go h-help with other t-things. — The boy quickly left Sete's side to assist Lillia and Bianca, and the young woman watched him leave without quite understanding why.

— I guess this is our home now, huh? — Reed murmured, resting his chin on his bent knees and hugging them tightly. The somewhat childish pose didn't suit his muscular body, as it made him look small and vulnerable.
Now, everyone was sitting in a circle around a large fire, the source of heat responsible for roasting tasty pieces of snake meat and a vegetable stew, the perfect meal for those who wouldn't dare eat the fragrant reptilian protein, like Thomas.
— Yes… — Lillia replied, her warm whisper camouflaged by the crackling of the flames. — I think so...
Ethan and Hiroshi, sitting next to her and working on the code that would soon be transmitted to the whole world, briefly stopped what they were doing with small smiles on their faces. Bianca imitated them, momentarily stopping stirring the food to enjoy the mixture of security and relief she hadn't felt in a long time, mixed with the aroma of that simple dinner: yes, now they would finally have a home...
The children and Sete, of course, were too distracted to notice the behavior of the rest of the group. The former paid special attention to the serpent's egg, which they simply couldn't take their eyes off all day. And the latter had her green eyes glued to the fat of the snake meat dripping onto the coals, whose soft, white, slightly golden appearance made her stomach churn with hunger.
— Will it take long to be ready? — Sete asked for the ninth time in a row, looking at Bianca in a way that was too miserable for a deity.
She didn't quite understand why everyone laughed after her question; human minutiae were still a mystery to her. After all, how could Sete understand the humor in her childish behavior suddenly breaking the quiet and contented atmosphere? Well, she didn't think too much about it, especially after Bianca said:
— It's ready. — The girl still wanted to dramatize the situation a little, and looked around carefree, as if thinking about something before speaking. — Who should I give the first piece to...?
Sete's eyes widened in despair, not understanding that it was a joke. She didn't even notice the amused smiles on the heirs' faces as she happily received her portion of food, devouring the stew and the extra water snake barbecue enthusiastically.
