Anastasia drove official car with her heart pounding against her chest, her eyes barely blinking as she sped through the streets of Manila.
The road signs blurred past, but her thoughts were louder than the hum of the engine.
'Santiago… why are you here? Who shot you? What danger have you brought with you?'
She finally pulled up in front of the hospital Garbi had mentioned on the call. Without waiting to fully park her car, she grabbed her phone to call him.
Her hands trembled as she was about to dial when she spotted him already standing outside the hospital entrance.
"Anastasia, please come over here!" Garbi's voice rang out the moment he saw her.
She rushed toward him, panic written all over her face. "Santiago, where is he? Is he okay? What happened to him?"
Garbi tried to stay calm, though the worry in his eyes betrayed his words. "The doctors are inside trying to remove the bullet. They rushed him in a while ago. We're just waiting now."
