The Avengers are Earth's first line of defense, and in fact, also its last line of defense.
Given that the overall technological level is far below the average of various forces in the universe, Earthlings can only rely on these extraordinary individuals whose personal abilities far exceed those of ordinary soldiers.
But there is a problem now. Although special beings in the Marvel world are gradually increasing, not everyone is willing to work for the government. Most superheroes are used to being undisciplined, and each has their own beliefs, completely disregarding the rules set by the authorities. To some extent, the superheroes active in various cities are themselves criminals.
Many superheroes would never admit this. Perhaps only Batman is most aware of it. No matter how famous a superhero is, they are essentially still criminals.
Even the most approachable and law-abiding, almost never using force, with most criminals just trapped and not harmed, Spider-Man is actually suspected of disrupting public order. Who told him to swing around the city all day?
Precisely because many superheroes are too individualistic, the Avengers have never truly absorbed civilian superheroes to this day. Ant-Man was only recruited due to the special nature of his background.
Among the current members of the Avengers, Hawkeye and Black Widow transferred directly from S.H.I.E.L.D.
Winter Soldier Bucky successfully cleared his name and joined the Avengers only after receiving treatment from Ethan, passing various tests and evaluations, and proving he had returned to normal and was still a loyal soldier.
Even so, the Winter Soldier operates as low-key as possible because his identity as a former Hydra assassin is too conspicuous. If not for Steve Rogers' insistence, the Winter Soldier would probably never see the light of day, and would forever hide in the darkness doing unknown work.
Besides them, there are Falcon Sam Wilson, War Machine Rhodey, and Hulk Bruce Banner, among others. These individuals usually take turns on duty at the base, and a few of them team up for missions when necessary.
There are also Thor and Ethan, who are listed as members but essentially just have their names on the roster and rarely appear. Because of this, some people within the Avengers are very curious about him, such as Falcon Sam Wilson.
After joining the Avengers and seeing Ethan's name on the roster, when he complained to a colleague, "Who is this?", he discovered that he was the only one who had never met this mysterious Ethan.
Sam was very unhappy, so when he heard that the legendary Ethan had appeared at the Avengers base, he immediately rushed over. He could also take a good look at that legendary spaceship, since he had not had a chance to see what it looked like inside.
"Wow, it looks quite luxurious. Is this some kind of high-end space yacht?"
Sam had not been on the ship for long when he ran into Ethan and the others who were still examining various areas. Without Captain America Steve needing to introduce him, he stepped forward and extended his hand to Ethan.
"You must be the legendary one. I finally get to meet you. I'm Sam Wilson, you can call me Sam."
Sam Wilson is a very cheerful person, naturally friendly, enthusiastic, and kind-hearted. Overall, Ethan had a good impression of him, so even though his appearance was sudden, it did not make him feel displeased.
"I'm Ethan, but I shouldn't just live in legends, right?"
"No, no, to me, you are a legendary existence, because I found that among the Avengers members, only I have never met you."
"I see. I believe we will have many opportunities to meet in the future."
That was the introduction to Sam. Next, Tony continued to show Ethan around, first touring functional compartments such as the power room, medical bay, biological laboratory, recreation room, conference room, water purification room, and so on, before finally arriving at the control room.
The control room retained the original layout of the Prometheus. The pilot's seat was at the front, the captain's seat was in the center of the front area, surrounded by multiple positions. The positions for operators like the ship's pilot were distributed at the front and sides, while the seats near the captain were simply seats with some monitoring platforms and computers, which could be used by ordinary passengers during landing to avoid losing balance and getting injured from turbulence.
"Theoretically, one pilot and one co-pilot can utilize all the functions of this spaceship. The observer can also be the co-pilot, and the captain can take over all permissions when necessary, which means that in extreme cases, even with only one person, the ship can ensure normal navigation."
As for other positions like weapons officer or communications officer, anyone can fill them. Moreover, the computers on the Prometheus are basically networked, and except for a few functions that require operation at specific consoles, most functions can be completed from any position in the cockpit.
This is under purely manual operation. With the intelligent system, it is even easier.
"With an excellent intelligent system, even if no one is operating it, this spaceship can still navigate normally, and there will absolutely be no accidents."
Ethan had previously given the intelligent chip used on the Prinz Eugen to Tony, who upgraded and optimized the intelligent system and then reloaded it onto this spaceship.
After the power source on the Prometheus was activated and the entire ship's system began running, Tony performed some operations from the captain's seat, completing the initial setup, and finally gave Ethan a gesture.
"The newly upgraded intelligent system hasn't been named yet. It seems you need to give her a new name."
"How about Luna?"
"Luna?"
Sam tilted his head, thinking the name was quite ordinary, wasn't it? Such a powerful intelligent system getting such an ordinary name?
The most knowledgeable Tony thought of why Ethan chose this name.
"Is it because your previous ships were all named Goddess of Dawn?"
Ethan's previous ships were all named Goddess of Dawn, only the Prinz Eugen did not follow this naming convention.
Goddess of Dawn has a sister named Luna, who is the goddess of the moon in Roman mythology. Of course, the roles of deities in Roman mythology are very chaotic, and there were many goddesses who served as the moon goddess. Luna was just one of them.
"Good intention. I'm sure Diana and another lady will be very happy."
Among the moon goddesses in Roman mythology, one was named Diana, or Artemis. In a sense, if this spaceship is renamed Moon Goddess, it also corresponds to Diana's name.
As for the other lady Tony mentioned, there is another moon goddess in Roman mythology named Selene, which can also be translated as Selene.
Ethan gave a helpless smile. He really did not think it was that complicated. He just felt that he always used the name Goddess of Dawn before, even naming a pet Auriel, so he might as well keep it in the family.
As a result, it coincidentally matched these situations, but it was not a big deal.
With the intelligent system restarted, the Prometheus, now renamed the Moon Goddess, completed its activation.
Considering the ship was already fully stocked with supplies, it could now ascend directly.
However, neither Steve nor Tony recommended that Ethan conduct a test flight.
"There are too many eyes watching the Avengers. Taking the spaceship straight up like this will cause a lot of trouble."
If it were the old Tony, he would not care about this.
But after his father was resurrected, he watched Howard maneuver smoothly among all sorts of people, and he more or less understood many things he had not understood before, or rather, had disdained to understand.
Although he now had the qualifications and ability to ignore those troubles, he also did not want a bunch of flies to needlessly disrupt his still happy daily life.
"Of course, I won't conduct a test flight now. I can do the test flight slowly after I get back."
The Moon Goddess's modification was highly complete. Tony had personally experienced space travel and observed Peter's Milano up close, so he knew how to modify it without problems.
Furthermore, the Moon Goddess had stored a considerable amount of nanite repair bots. Many minor issues could be repaired by the intelligent system Luna itself, without even needing to stop the ship or land on a planet.
After completing the startup, Ethan had Luna enter a dormant state, then got off the spaceship with Steve and the others, chatting and laughing.
As soon as they came out, they saw Scott and Hank rushing over. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the spaceship was still there.
"I thought you were going to take the spaceship away without a word!"
"It's pretty much ready. The modifications are complete, and I'm here to take delivery this time." After saying that, he shook hands with Hank Pym and expressed his gratitude, as the old Ant-Man had contributed significantly to getting the spaceship modified so quickly.
"Aren't you doing a test flight?"
He had rushed over hoping to catch this test flight, but unfortunately, Ethan was not planning to test it in the Marvel world. He had stayed here long enough, and it was time to go back and take a look. He was quite curious about the universe he lived in.
"If you want to experience space travel up close, you're very welcome to live on my ship for a while."
The old Ant-Man was tempted, but he still refused because he had a lot of things to deal with here and could not leave. Even if he wanted to go out and have fun, he had to finish this busy period first.
"That's a shame. I hope there's a chance next time."
Scott also wanted to go but could not. He had finally gotten into a relationship with Hope, and now his girlfriend was busy all day taking over the old Ant-Man's company. If he went out to have fun at this time, he probably would not have a girlfriend for the rest of his life.
"If there is a chance next time, remember to call me too."
These people all knew Ethan's abilities and wanted to go out and explore with him. It was not necessarily about joining Ethan's team. Even just following along to see the wonders of other worlds would become a precious memory they would never forget. After all, not everyone gets the chance to experience this.
"There will be opportunities for everyone!"
Compared to the others, Bruce Banner was currently free, and he really wanted to visit other universes and see things.
(To be continued.)
