Chapter 490 - Chapter 490: Forging a Path and a Council of War

Chapter 490: Forging a Path and a Council of War

Ino let Tonton's soul perch on her shoulder and moved quickly, traversing the ruins.

The reason she called this place ruins was that the buildings, ground, and walls were all covered in countless layers of dust. Broken walls and remnants of what seemed to be once-stately stone pillars lay haphazardly on the roadside, as if they had been resting there quietly for thousands of years.

Is this that King of Hell's place? Ino slowly began to piece things together.

It was likely that the King of Hell had used some secret jutsu to pull her, along with Tonton, into the depths of the underworld.

If the worlds of Yomi and the Pure Land were at the water's surface, then this place was like a trench ten thousand meters deep.

A normally functioning underworld would definitely not look like this. Because it had lost its order, it was now just a massive prison.

In a normal situation, even the most meticulous system would have an entrance and an exit. As long as a system existed, Ino could use her Mind Body Disturbance Technique to forcibly make friends and then find a loophole.

But there was no system here!

Since there was no system, there were naturally no loopholes, and no administrators. The entire world was like a giant coffin.

Ino now felt as if she had entered an abandoned game server. No one would ever come here again. As a piece of data, she was free within this abandoned server, but she couldn't get out because there were no paths!

"It's impossible for there to be no path. Nothing in this world is that absolute. There must be a chance." Ino sat on a stone slab to think.

Teacher Six Paths wouldn't come to save her. The old man hadn't even saved Asura and Indra when they died, let alone her.

The old man probably thought this was just another trial in her life. It would be a blessing if he didn't add another eighty-one tribulations for her.

"The old man is unreliable. Master Tsunade is no use either; she can't even get in here. My old friend, the Shinigami? He can't help either. I have to figure this out myself." Ino seemed to be talking to Tonton, but she was actually sorting through the information she had.

Since there was no path, she would just have to force one!

"Nothing in this world is impossible for a willing heart! Can a small, broken place like this trap someone as awesome as me? Tonton, which way do you think we should break through? Here, point in a direction."

Tonton: "???"

You sat there and thought for so long, and this is the solution you came up with?

Regardless of what Tonton was thinking, after it randomly pointed in a direction, Ino entered Sage Mode and started digging a path!

There was no need to study any blueprints, no need to worry about the thickness of the walls. She just went into Sage Mode and started working!

She used Water Severing Wave to cut through the giant rocks, Ice Release to freeze the incredibly sturdy walls, and then a Brute Force fist to shatter them!

She used Earth Spear and Great Earth Flow River to dig the foundations, and Wind Release to clear the debris. When she encountered a particularly tough wall, she used Giant Rasengan and Spiralling Ring to force her way through!

Ino spent about another ten percent of her Six Paths power to completely stabilize her Sage Body in a high-level state.

In this state, her need for daily food was reduced to a minimum. With a little time, she could directly draw the energy her body needed from the natural environment. In a way, she was already half an immortal cultivator.

There was no concept of time in the underworld, and the path-breaking project seemed endless. Ino had hesitated, had wavered, but the pride of a transmigrator in her heart made her persevere.

I beat the dance king without even trying that hard. Can a small predicament like this really stop me?

She broke through the path day and night. When she used a Super Great Spiralling Ring to shatter a giant boulder blocking her way and saw ice-cold water seeping through the cracks in the wall before her, she knew her efforts had finally paid off.

She tasted the ice water from the cracks. "This is Yomi water, but the taste seems a bit strange?"

"Tonton, we're about to get out!" Hope seemed to be right in front of her, but this last section was unusually sturdy. The Super Great Spiralling Ring, which could shift the moon's angle, had now become a routine path-clearing tool.

The path-breaking consumed too much chakra. She had to stop and rest from time to time, and her speed slowed down.

The One-Tail, Two-Tails, Four-Tails, Five-Tails, and Six-Tails had all fallen into Akatsuki's hands. What was even more serious was that Madara Uchiha had appeared!

As someone who had directly fought with Madara Uchiha, Tsunade immediately called a high-level meeting as soon as she returned to the village to report the matter.

Madara Uchiha was arguably the most infamous rogue ninja in Konoha's history.

Jiraiya expanded the scope of the high-level meeting. Elite Jonin like Asuma and Might Guy were also in attendance.

It was worth mentioning that Sasuke's promotion to Jonin had officially taken effect three days ago. He was now a Jonin and had been assigned as a captain in the Police Force by Kakashi.

Madara Uchiha was connected to Kabuto Yakushi and the Impure World Reincarnation. Currently, the only person in Konoha who could use the Impure World Reincarnation was Orochimaru. After some discussion among the higher-ups, they called in Orochimaru, who was neither a prisoner nor a guest, to join the meeting.

Orochimaru paid no attention to the various Jonin. Only when he saw Sasuke did he nod slightly and say in a rather friendly tone, "Sasuke-kun."

Sasuke was stunned and instinctively reached for his sword, only to realize he hadn't brought it to the meeting. His second thought was, What is this guy doing here? Are all you Jonin just going to stand there and watch?

Kakashi signaled for him to calm down.

Sasuke also felt that he had overreacted. He was not the same person he used to be. A mere Orochimaru couldn't scare him.

Five minutes later, when Tsunade began to speak, he could no longer remain calm.

"What did you say? Madara Uchiha?! You fought him? Isn't he dead? You guys actually..." He wanted to say, Why weren't you killed by Madara? But he wasn't a complete idiot and knew that saying such a thing would offend people.

Hearing that Ino had fought Madara for a long time, he felt a mix of emotions. In the history of the Uchiha, the former clan head, Madara, was recorded as a god of war, truly invincible.

Now, such a legend had fought his classmate to a draw. He didn't know if the legend's strength was watered down, or if his classmate was just too strong.

Kakashi once again signaled for him to calm down. Impatience was a great taboo for a ninja.

Sasuke also knew he had a problem with his temperament. He forced himself to calm down while glancing at Neji Hyuga not far away.

Ino was out of his league, so Neji Hyuga, the Hyuga clan's prodigy who was a year older than him, had become his target for the time being.

Seeing that he had quieted down, Tsunade continued her account.

She started from the Second Hokage's notes, saying that Tsunade's team had searched for Madara Uchiha's coffin but only found an empty one. This proved that Madara hadn't died in the battle at the Valley of the End, but had used a jutsu to deceive both the First and Second Hokage.
