Chapter 443: Kaguya Ōtsutsuki
With the thought of "Your part is over, now it's my turn," Ino prepared to make her move the day after Gamamaru's departure.
At that moment, Hagoromo was still training by the waterfall, while Hamura had gone to guide the common people, urging them to evacuate the village as quickly as possible. Once the battle began, the brothers would have no time to look after them.
"Hamura, what are you doing?"
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, who was supposed to be gone for several days, suddenly appeared behind Hamura. In less than two sentences, using her Byakugan that could see into a person's heart, Kaguya completely saw through Hamura's intentions.
Mother and son officially came to blows.
As the ancestor of the Hyūga clan, Hamura's skill with the Byakugan was beyond question, but compared to Kaguya, there was still a chasm-like gap.
Kaguya's eyes burst forth with a dazzling light, and a powerful pressure radiated from her in all directions.
The villagers' wooden houses, the farming tools by the roadside, even the trees and stones—every physical object was struck by a heavy blow at that moment. A water vat that was slightly closer was shattered into pieces by this immense pressure.
Hamura, bearing the brunt of it, tried to resist with his own Byakugan, but the difference in their ocular power was enormous. In front of his own mother, he was no different from an infant. He was instantly subdued, forced to his knees as if a thousand-pound weight was pressing down on his shoulders.
Kaguya's Byakugan pressure swept out in all directions, and Ino, hiding in the distance, was caught in its wake.
Her shadow clones were destroyed one by one, disappearing in puffs of white smoke with a series of poof, poof, poof sounds.
This strange scene made Kaguya turn her head to look.
What is this thing? White smoke? This chakra is so familiar. Why have so many people with the same chakra signature suddenly appeared?
She had only passed her chakra to her two sons. Where did this familiar-feeling chakra come from? Thirty consecutive shadow clones were destroyed, and their memories flooded back to Ino's main body. She was startled. Good grief, she's this strong just by standing still and releasing pressure?
Ma'am, are you sure that's a Byakugan?
That water vat that was torn apart by your sheer spirit has something to say about that. That's Conqueror's Haki, isn't it!Hinata couldn't do that even if she ate twenty roasted pigs...
"Who are you?" Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's voice was deep and rich, with a strange magnetic quality.
One of Ino's shadow clones stepped forward. "Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, I am here to negotiate."
Before her words had even faded, a dark gray bone spike emerged from Kaguya's palm. With a flick of her hand, the bone spike shot forward as a blur, piercing through the shadow clone's body. The next second, the clone vanished in a puff of white smoke.
"Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, I am here to negotiate."
'Die.'
"Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, I am here to negotiate."
"Die."
"Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, I am here to negotiate."
"...Die."
The Rabbit Goddess's murderous intent was off the charts. She gave Ino no chance to speak, taking out her clones one by one with her All-Killing Ash Bones.
After sacrificing more than ten additional shadow clones, Ino's main body couldn't worry about being discovered anymore. She had already been found, so what else could happen?
She used her Sensory Perception Link to connect with Hamura.
If she were connecting to Shikamaru or Choji, she would have met no resistance. With Naruto or Sasuke, she could have forcefully pried open a gap with her Yin Release to establish the link.
But with Hamura, it was different. Even while being pinned to the ground by Kaguya, his Byakugan repelled Ino's sensory abilities.
Ino was persistent. The more you push me away, the more I need to talk to you.
Seemingly recognizing that her chakra was very similar to his brother's, Hamura finally agreed to speak with her.
What a pain! Ino wiped the sweat from her brow.
She had finally made contact with an important figure, though the method was completely different from what she had envisioned.
"Who are you?" Hamura automatically grasped the knack of speaking within the sensory link and asked his question.
Why does every single one of you like to ask this question?
Ino could only pass the buck. "...I am a friend of Gamamaru."
"Impossible. Where did you get your chakra from?"
"We'll talk about that later. Find an opportunity and run. You are very important right now."
The sincerity in her words barely managed to dispel Hamura's suspicion. He hesitated for a few seconds before replying with a simple "Okay."
Kaguya had now become somewhat interested in Ino's shadow clones.
She began to toss the clones into her "Amenominaka" dimensions, observing their changes in the different environments within those spaces.
Ino's main body hid thirty li away, continuously sending shadow clones to their deaths.
Memories of being killed in various ways constantly flooded her brain. She endured the discomfort, doing her best to buy time for Hamura.
Burned to death by the flames of the lava dimension, frozen solid by the extreme cold of the ice dimension, swept away by the quicksand of the desert dimension, crushed by the gravity of the super-gravity dimension, and completely corroded by the acid of the acid sea dimension.
Ino continued to die in all sorts of creative ways. Except for the acid sea dimension, which was all acid, she quietly left a Flying Thunder God kunai in each of the other dimensions.
The distance was too great; back in the ninja world, she wouldn't be able to sense the kunai's location at all. But she felt it was better to be prepared. Who knew when they might come in handy in the future?
"Are you ready? Your mother's patience is running out," Ino asked Hamura.
Though it felt like a long time, the shadow clone suicide mission had lasted less than thirty seconds. Kaguya was initially curious, but now she was growing bored.
Hamura had been completely immobilized by Kaguya's Byakugan. Thanks to her help in delaying and distracting his mother, he had finally regained some mobility.
Byakugan against Byakugan, the fact that Kaguya could suppress him without any resistance for thirty seconds was already a testament to her immense power.
Hamura said, "I should have some mobility now. What's your plan? Don't just throw your life away. If you're not confident, I suggest you run first. My mother's power is absolutely beyond your imagination."
Ino was actually quite nervous herself. She had many powerful jutsu she hadn't used, partly because she hadn't had the chance, and partly because she felt they would be simply useless.
Use the Spirit Transformation Technique? Use the Rasengan? Use the Steaming Danger Tyranny? Against Six Paths Madara, only senjutsu and taijutsu were effective, let alone against Kaguya. These ninjutsu were completely useless.
Ino's original plan was to have Hagoromo awaken the Rinnegan first, then let mother and son fight it out while she hid in the shadows, taking no credit but achieving her goal.
Now that she was out in the open, she had to use her backup plan.
She had to save Hamura, and she had to escape herself.
"Wait for my signal. Three, two, one... Run!"
Hamura was decisive. The ocular power in his eyes erupted, breaking Kaguya's suppression, and then he bolted.
"Hamura! Stop right there!" Kaguya roared, her eyes locking onto her younger son, preparing to use her Byakugan's... pressure again.
More than ten of Ino's shadow clones formed a human wall, blocking her path.
