Chapter 101 - 100 – The Victor

By the final day, the Storm had forced the five remaining participants into the Redwoods. The day before, there were three more participants. They were taken out by a combination of Harley hunting them down with her large pack of raptors and carnosaurs, dinosaurs notorious for charging forward and ramming into whatever they targeted with their thick skulls and sharp horns, and the various Thylos, Terror Birds, Dire Bears, and a dozen other Dinosaurs that called the Redwoods home. Harley's Carnos were twice the size of her Raptors, making them an excellent charger to distract or stun.

Crazy Steve was forced to leave his makeshift fortress as the storm took it, forcing him out and into the open field. However, his many fliers made it hard to sneak up on him, allowing him to flee before he could get caught every time someone neared him.

With each hour, the participants were forced closer and closer, as venturing out into the storm proved to be...dangerous. Seeing their own dinosaurs melt alive to the acidic smoke, everyone was forced to keep moving inward with their dinosaurs until the point where they couldn't do anything but fight one another.

Ivy, her pack of randomly assorted Dinosaurs, and her simple firearms went up against Crazy Steve. At the same time, Harley was forced to fight a two-on-one battle as the last two participants who miraculously managed to make it so far decided to work together to increase their chances.

Ivy's flak armor barely protected her against the multiple Dimorphodons, small, winged beasts with a long row of razor teeth within long beaks. They furiously clawed at her armor, causing the sound of shrieking metal, while she swung her gun around alongside a metal club to keep the beasts off of her.

Unfortunately for her, with a loud bang, one of her Dinosaurs was sent to the ground, dead from a bullet wound to the head. Before she could react, she felt an unbearable and burning pain on her side and then heard a loud bang. Looking down, Ivy saw that a bullet had hit her just above the waist, pricing right through her Flak armor, and before she could react, another bang echoed through the woods as a bullet went through her head.

...

"CHEATERS!" Harley screamed as two people and their dinosaurs chased her around the Redwoods. Her own Raptors and Carnos fled around her as she directed them to escape into the Redwoods and surround the two chasing her. With her acting as bait, the two participants chasing after her wouldn't notice being surrounded until it was too late.

As she jumped behind a tree, she let out a loud whistle, sending the signal to her Raptors and Carnos to charge. Training them took a few hours, but thankfully Tames were quick learners, easily understanding commands within hours. Also helps that Raptors were quite the cunning predators, especially with their pack tactics.

Leaping back out from the tree, she heard the chirps of her Raptors in the distance. Raising her simple pistol, she took aim and fired, hitting one of the men charging her right in the knee, sending them down to the ground before one of her Raptors leaped out from some nearby bushes and lunged for the downed man's back, digging their claws deep into the flesh of their back before ripping the man's throat out with its maw.

The man beside him had no time to react either, as a Carno came charging out from the foilage, knocking over every tree in its way before slamming head-on into the man, sending them flying back and onto the ground, but before they could finish off the last man, his Dinosaurs rushed in to protect him.

The ground shook as a Triceratops rushed forward, its horns and head slamming directly into the Carnosaurs, impaling it on its horns, killing it nearly instantly due to the sheer length of the Trike's horns while other Dinosaurs charged at the Raptors and other Carnos under Harley's command.

Raising her primitive pistol, which was a simple revolver with a six-round chamber, she took a few potshots at the Trike, hitting each shot, making the Trike roar in pain, but was unfortunate enough to have the Carno's corpse still stuck on its horns, forcing to try and pull it's horns out, but not before two of Harley's Raptors leaped off the ground and onto the Trike's back, ripping and tearing at its flesh and hide with their claws and teeth, leaving gaping wounds that were quickly worsening as the Raptors continued to rip and tear at the Trike.

With her Raptors distracting as many of the hostile Dinosaurs as they could, she charged forward and aimed at the man trying to get off the ground after being hit by the Carno's charge, only for a loud 'click' to echo from her pistol, making her grit her teeth in annoyance. Tossing the gun into her inventory, she charged forward with her sword, only to jump back when a Microraptor lunged for her face.

She raised her sword in defense as it collided with her and began scratching the faceplate of her Flak helmet. Heaving, she threw the microrapter to the ground, but before she could stomp on it or slash at it, the Microrapter jumped back and squawked before Harley felt a bearing pain in her leg, looking down to see a Diliophosouous bitting into her leg.

Feeling its venom starting to affect her vision, she grimaced and swung down with her sword, the blade cutting clean and deep into the head of the Dilo before kicking its corpse away. Her vision began to distort, but thankfully, the Dilo didn't spit its venom into her eyes like the Dilos, who were notoriously known for doing unprovoked before trying to kill you.

When she turned back, the Microrapter was already in the air and about to collide with her. Reactively swinging her sword toward the Microrapter, she was surprised when she clearly missed before the Microrapter began to claw at her helmet, unluckily clawing one of her eyes with its claws, causing her to scream out in pain.

Grabbing a hold of the Microrapter's head, she peeled it off herself before throwing it down to the ground and repeatedly stomping on its head body and head till it didn't move anymore.

Looking up, she found that the man had been killed by one of her Raptors, causing all of his tames to go wild and begin fighting one another and her tames. Feeling her left eye flare in pain and spurt blood, she grimaced as she whistled, calling one of the Raptrs to come close enough for her to mount.

Now, she was left with only one other person in the way of her victory.

Only for a shot to ring out across the Redwoods as a bullet hit a few inches away from where she stood.

Whistling in a panic, she dived out of the way and behind a tree, nearly falling over due to Dilo's venom still affecting her vision, not to mention the loss of balance she felt. [#1]

As her Dinos charged, she took a moment to apply basic first aid.

When she was ready, she withdrew her gun and reloaded before taking a breath.

Whistling again, one of her raptors came rushing to her side, and she wasted no time jumping onto the Raptors back, guiding it to circle around where the last participant would likely be fighting her Raptors and last Carno.

She had no idea what she was running into, but she hoped it was not Pamela, and she didn't want to fight her friend.

Then she heard a loud screech from above as talons grabbed onto her body, pulling her right off of the Raptor.

Looking up, she saw a man sitting upon an Argentavis, a large feathered bird that was slow but enduring. Raising her gun, she attempted to shoot, but the Argentavis suddenly let her go, sending her falling back to the ground. Luckily, she managed to survive, only to be met face-to-face with a Thylacoleo.

Before she could react, she was met with a new screen.

[You were slain by Lvl 42 Thylacoleo]

[#1] - As an avid wearer of glasses, I already knew this tidbit: your eyes affect your balance, leaving you feeling unbalanced if your vision were to change or you were to lose an eye. For example, going from someone with terrible eyesight to wearing glasses for the first time will make you feel like you can't even step forward without almost tripping or that the world is closer or further than it should be.
