The next morning, the sky above the village was gray. Thin clouds covered the sun, making the wind feel colder than yesterday.
Isabella stood in the stone hall again. Her fan was folded in her hand, and her blue eyes swept across the gathered guards and hunters.
Because of those shady men from yesterday, she could not relax anymore.
"You all saw what happened," she said. "Strangers chased a mountain beast all the way to our forest. Next time, it might not be a beast. It might be females. Or it might be you."
Isabella was holding this meeting because she realized if stronger villages or clans could wake up one day and decide to take other villages territories.
That means it could happen to her village soon, if she wasn't strong enough.
The men standing below her straightened their backs. The markings on their arms twitched slightly with every small movement.
