"Want… Flesh."
The once chaotic battlefield went silent upon its words. The pressure within the plains was immense.
The goblin merely stood there and waited. Its big, bulging eyes were staring longingly at the trio, as if it expected an answer.
"Um, isn't it supposed to attack us now or something?"
Jisung's stance had relaxed more as the rake slowly fell down to his side.
"Need food."
"It sounds like it's… pleading for food."
Song Jiwoo's glaring, yellow blade had also dissipated as she took a few steps towards the towering goblin. Its eyes stared at her intently as it bent down to look at her, its lips curved into a small grin.
She continued to advance step by step, her gaze still fixed on the green figure. It was like taming an animal.
Now inches away, she slowly extended her hand out to the monster's face.
"Die, you bitch."
A green figure swooped in from the back and punched the goblin square in its face, the force of the punch causing the colossal goblin to stumble backwards. A barrage of vines shot from the ground, each one colliding with the goblin.
"You'll pay for killing my babies."
Cha Haeul was now standing face to face with the goblin, her hands trembling as she conjured yet another flurry of vine attacks. However, the goblin did not retaliate and only shielded himself from the vines that came from every direction by huddling into a ball. Slowly, the vines creeped around its legs, trapping him in place.
"Fight back, you stupid monster. Or I'm gonna kill you."
Cha Haeul leaped into the sky using her vines as a propeller and molded them into a sharp, piercing sword, plunging downwards at the goblin.
Using this opportunity, the goblin bellowed and smashed the vines that encased it, narrowly avoiding the stab from above by rolling away, causing the ground to shake from the sudden movement.
"No harm…please leave."
The goblin was now on its knees, as if it was begging for mercy. However, the green figure did not stop her advance, the vines around her arms morphing into twin blades as she charged forward.
"Stop it."
Jisung had put himself in between the path of the goblin and Cha Haeul.
"Move out of my way."
"You're being reckless. Calm yourself down."
"And you're defending a fucking monster."
Jisung pointed at the colossal goblin that was on its knees.
"It's friendly. It obviously isn't like the other goblins."
"Are you even thinking for a second? It led all its subordinates right here to this very place. You think that thing is innocent in the slightest?"
"You're just seething because it killed your plants."
Song Jiwoo had stepped in, positioning herself beside Jisung as she materialised her energy blade, her eyes gazing intently at Cha Haeul.
"So what if I am? Doesn't change the fact that abomination should be killed. Would you still be smiling if I killed your little boy toy here?"
"To compare the life of a human to that of your little pomegranate plants? You're pathetic."
The green figure was now trembling as her hands clenched into fists. The vines that had calmed were now slithering back into position as she grinned.
"You know nothing about them or love. Fuck, how could you understand love when you don't even love yourself."
The yellow had now brightened into a blinding glare as she cracked her shoulders.
"I've had enough of you, bitch. I'll end you once and for all."
"Try me."
Song Jiwoo stabbed as she flew forward at inhumane speed towards Cha Haeul. The latter swiftly sidestepped and executed an uppercut. The yellow glow immediately stopped in her tracks and pulled herself back, dodging the attack. However, her hair was not as fortunate as a large chunk of it had been sliced off, falling onto the floor.
"No!"
The hair danced in the air as it swished and fell to the floor. Song Jiwoo's eyes widened as she gazed at the fallen hair, her blinding light faltering on and off.
A vine aimed straight for Song Jiwoo's head flew, but it was caught without the yellow figure even needing to turn her head. She clenched her fist and snapped the vine within an instant.
"Today… will be the last day you live."
The yellow figure spread her arms and golden spears formed, and with a flick of her hands, flew towards Cha Haeul. The latter smashed her palm to the ground, forming waves of vines that intercepted the spears. Brandishing her newly formed twin blades, Song Jiwoo cut through the walls, inching closer to their maker.
Song Jiwoo leaped towards the lady in green, the twin blades morphing into a long spear as she stabbed downwards. Cha Haeul smirked as vines flew from out the ground and in front of her, culminating into a shield.
As the spear pierced through the shield, the vines split outwards and reached for the master of the spear. She quickly redistributed the energy into a whip, spinning it around herself and disintegrating the stems that eyed her. Landing back on the floor gracefully, she shot forward again, kicking the shield forcefully with her knee, causing Cha Haeul to be pushed back from the impact.
"Guys, that's enough. No need to fight amongst ourselves."
Jisung had shouted from the side to attract their attention, but to no avail. He desperately looked around before puffing out a large breath. He ran towards Cha Haeul with his rake, but a vine had wrapped his leg and slammed him to the ground, causing his eyes to black out.
"Don't interfere with the ladies' quibble."
The two continued on their rampage as the colossal goblin stood at the side and watched, its body trembling as it watched the battle unfold. It extended its arm out a few times before it retracted it and resumed scratching its fingernails.
Dodak's attention was driven back to the fight as the two women had clashed head on yet again, their arms pressing against each other as they glared intently at the other.
"Just give up already Song Jiwoo. You can't defeat me."
"You're funny. I'll chop off your tongue."
The two women were bruised and bleeding, the green and yellow auras mixing and clashing constantly. Too engrossed in their battle, they failed to see the green smoke that swished in their direction, clouding them in a sea of green.
"You little bitch."
The two women shouted synonymously before they collapsed onto the ground, their bodies motionless.
Dodak carefully walked over to inspect the two women, lifting their eyelids to check whether or not they were fully asleep. He opened their mouths slightly to inspect for foam and left them to rest after ensuring there was none.
He then advanced towards the shivering goblin, who upon noticing the advancing Dodak, began whimpering.
"You really are a coward, aren't you?"
Cupping his hands, he exhaled, trapping poison gas within them. Bending down, he released the poison onto the grass, disintegrating it within seconds.
"Leave."
He stared directly at the goblin's big, bulging eyes and cracked his back, blowing out a small puff of green gas.
The titan slowly bowed its head as it turned, its back slumped as it walked away.
Dodak could only let out a heavy sigh as he plopped himself on the ground. He looked around at the countless bodies that surrounded him, including the motionless bodies of the three humans. The night sky was awfully dim. The stars that glowed were nothing compared to the yellow glow he saw today.
"You really are a menace. You killed them all."
He could instantly recognise that deep, low voice from anywhere. The one that was as deep as the ocean but yet soothing like the waves on a beach.
"I merely put them to sleep. For their own good, before they slice each other's heads off. You, you were here the entire time, weren't you? Yet you did nothing."
"Because I knew you had it under control."
The grass crunched as he advanced, silence covering the blood-stained plains when the figure stopped beside him. The man then sat down beside Dodak, chuckling as he gazed up at the night sky.
"If I never had faith in your capabilities, I would have never started all that with you."
He turned to face the man, his face shining against the moonlight. A peaceful silence fell between the two as they embraced the moment, looking up at the night sky.
Dodak was the first to break the silence.
"Do you think we'll ever be able to do…everything we did again?"
The man laughed softly as he wrapped his hand around Dodak's shoulder.
"If you're talking about doxxing people and hacking their banks, maybe not now. All internet services are still down. But everything else, we could even do it here, right now."
Dodak's cheeks turned red as the man softly grabbed Dodak's chin and tilted his gaze, locking their eyes. Dodak was now staring intently at the handsome man before him, noticing every little detail about him - the beauty mark near his right eye, his sharp jawline, and the small cut near his lip.
"It still hasn't fully healed huh?"
Slowly caressing the scar, he reminisced about the events of that day. In response, the man grinned as his eyes softened.
"I know you're worried about the money. I can see it in your eyes. But you've worked hard for so long. Just take a break, enjoy this hell of a place before you eventually get thrown back to your harsh reality."
Dodak shifted himself onto the man's shoulders, a loud sigh escaping from him.
The duo fell back into silence as they enjoyed the warmth of each other in the cold, starry night. Maybe the stars did not have to shine brightly for it to be a beautiful night.
"Thank you so much."
He grasped the hand of the muscular man, holding it tightly within his own.
"Anything for you, my beautiful Widow."
