"My name is Fanny. As you can see, I work here in this Radio Tower, serving as the head of the Communications Department. The situation at that time was like this…"
After learning of Liam's true identity, the fat man—Fanny—no longer dared to spout nonsense. Looking dejected, he squeezed into his chair and slowly recounted what had happened.
"At that time, I was working in my office as usual. Then the front desk told me someone was here to see me, claiming to be from an official department. He said he had orders from above about some kind of inspection related to animated programs. I didn't suspect anything and let the person in…"
At this point, Fanny's face showed a trace of regret. If time could be turned back, no matter what, he would never have let that mysterious man in.
"Did that mysterious person enter through the main entrance? When you first saw him, was he wearing a mask? He was such a suspicious person—how did your staff just let him stroll straight into your office without obstruction?"
Liam sat on a nearby chair, arms crossed, his brows furrowed in confusion as he questioned the fat man.
"Uh… I don't know either!"
Caught off guard by Liam's sudden question, Fanny also realized something was wrong. But he truly didn't know why none of the other staff noticed anything strange at the time.
"Cough, cough. Mr. Liam," Officer Jenny interjected with a soft smile, "earlier my officers reported to me that the tower staff all seemed mentally dazed at the time. It's likely they were put under some kind of hypnosis, which is why they failed to make the right judgment."
"Oh… so that's it. Mm, go on."
Liam nodded slightly at her explanation, then gestured for Fanny to continue.
"Uh… oh, right. After that, the mysterious man came into my office. He was already wearing a mask when he entered. I asked what business he had, but he ignored me completely. Instead, he walked straight up to the wall and took down my family heirloom hanging there! He even tried to leave with it! Of course I couldn't just let that happen! I immediately tried to stop him… but then…"
Fanny paused, his excitement briefly flaring before dying down again as he recalled what followed.
Liam couldn't help but purse his lips in silence. Fanny didn't even own a single Pokémon, yet he thought he could fight that masked man? That was sheer wishful thinking. The fact he hadn't ended up gravely injured like Max was already a miracle… though he had been tossed straight out of the fifth floor.
"But after that… you were thrown off the tower. Enough—spare us the useless details. We already know what happened next. What I want to hear now is this: What exactly was the treasure he stole from you? Earlier I kept hearing you shout about some kind of 'sacred object.' What is it, and what does it do?"
Realizing there were no further leads about the masked man, Liam shifted focus to the stolen item.
"This…"
Fanny hesitated, head lowered in thought. After a long pause, he finally raised his eyes, firm with resolve, and answered Liam.
"I don't know the specifics. The treasure that was stolen was actually two very special feathers. One glimmered with rainbow-colored light, while the other shone with a silvery white glow. Many years ago, my grandfather discovered them in the ruins of the old, decayed Tin Tower. Our family preserved them as heirlooms, and they've been passed down until they reached me today."
"I've never known what special powers they truly hold. I always treated them as decorations, displayed in my room. But I clearly remember—back when I was young, my grandfather told me these two feathers were sacred objects. If someone pure of heart possessed them, the feathers would bring happiness. But if they fell into the hands of an evil person, they could endanger the entire Johto region! Those were his exact words! I've always believed him wholeheartedly! Which is why—"
At this point, Fanny's emotions overflowed. His plump body rose suddenly, shoving the chair behind him. Then he dropped to his knees as if collapsing mountains, pressing his forehead firmly to the ground and pleading loudly to Liam.
"Please, you must recover my treasure! Even if you can't take them back, at the very least don't let them fall into evil hands! I beg of you! Please, my lord, help me!!"
For the first time, Liam felt a stir of emotion. His gaze toward Fanny softened with a hint of respect. He quickly stood, firmly lifting Fanny back to his feet, and spoke earnestly.
"The reason I came here was to resolve this matter. Mr. Fanny, rest assured—your treasure will be recovered. That, I promise you."
From Fanny's description, Liam now understood—the stolen items had to be the Rainbow Feather and the Silver Feather. These were no ordinary relics; they carried immense significance. He couldn't take this matter lightly. Mishandled, it could indeed lead to catastrophe.
...….
Meanwhile, while Liam was still at the police station investigating, deep in the forest outside Goldenrod City, two small figures stood waiting in a clearing.
"Kaz, has Mask finished the job yet? He's way too slow."
Impatient, the little girl—playing with a Meowth in her arms—turned to the boy beside her, who remained vigilant of their surroundings.
"Sham, when will you ever fix that impatience of yours? Teacher told us to wait here. Our duty is to obey."
The boy's cold, precise tone was far beyond his age, his expression stern and unyielding.
"Oh, it's here."
At that moment, the cry of a Delibird came from the sky. Both children looked up. In the distance, the bird approached swiftly, carrying a figure on its back.
"Heh, well done, Delibird. You've worked hard."
When the Delibird landed, Kaz's stern face finally relaxed into a smile. He praised the bird warmly before taking the picture frame handed over by the masked man.
"Heh. The Rainbow Feather and Silver Feather are in our hands now. Next… our task should be the Clear Bell, right? Hmph. I can't help but wonder—just what tremendous power does Teacher intend to unleash by gathering all these items?"
Kaz lightly polished the glass of the frame, gazing at the two feathers inside. His lips curved into a smile full of expectation.
