"Ah! Lorelei! Liam, go after her quickly! She must've seen and heard everything! She must be heartbroken right now! Hurry and comfort her!"
Delia looked worried as she watched Lorelei run off. She immediately turned toward Liam with concern etched on her face, urging him anxiously.
Liam frowned upon hearing Delia's words. His gaze, which had been fixed on the hall, quickly snapped back. Staring seriously at Delia, his voice carried a trace of suppressed anger.
"Delia, do you even know what you're saying?"
Delia was taken aback. She didn't understand why Liam suddenly seemed so upset. Her eyes flickered in panic, and she nervously fidgeted with her fingers, speaking in a timid voice.
"Well... Lorelei must be really sad right now. I just... I'm a bit worried about her..."
Liam looked at Delia and felt utterly speechless. At a time like this, she was still worrying about others? And more importantly—about Lorelei, who, strictly speaking, was a romantic rival? Liam wasn't sure if Delia was just too kind-hearted or a little too naïve.
"Can you stop worrying about other people right now? I'm proposing to you, Delia! You're the one I love..."
Liam closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and calmed his speechless heart. Finally, he placed both hands gently on Delia's shoulders and looked into her eyes with utmost sincerity.
"Mm… I know! I know that… I've always known your feelings, Liam. That's why I wasn't worried—because I know no one can take you away from me… but... but still..."
Delia's face glowed with happiness as she returned Liam's gaze with equal determination. Her eyes sparkled with unwavering trust.
"No buts! To tell you the truth, before I came here, I did have a few fantasies. I'd always imagined meeting tons of beautiful women and building a massive harem! …Cough, cough… Don't look at me like that! Let me finish!"
Seeing Delia's gaze turn slightly dangerous, Liam coughed awkwardly and quickly continued with genuine earnestness.
"Well, I'm just a guy, you know. We all have those kinds of fantasies, however…"
"To be honest. Ever since I came here and met you, got to know you…. I knew…. I just knew that I wouldn't need anyone else in my life. That fantasy was just that… a childish fantasy. The reality is so much better. I love you, Delia, I really do. In this life and the next, I'll love you with all of my heart. My heart is already full and content..."
"So..."
"Just forget about everything else and tell me this. Will you marry me, Delia?"
As he said this, Liam stepped back slightly, then dropped back to one knee. Holding Delia's left hand, he looked up at her with anticipation shining in his eyes.
Delia quickly covered her mouth with her right hand, her face filled with joy and emotion. She bent down and wrapped her arms tightly around Liam, resting her head on his shoulder. In a trembling but firm voice, she answered solemnly:
"Yes! I will!"
...
...
And just like that, Liam's proposal was a success… However, the two didn't get married right away.
By now, both Liam and Delia were fifteen—old enough to start a family in this world. But when Professor Oak, along with Delia's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ketchum, rushed back upon hearing the news, they felt the couple was still a bit too young. Getting married so soon didn't seem appropriate.
After a thorough discussion between the two now-interlinked families, the "elders" reached a decision: Liam and Delia would get engaged first, and then in a few years, a wedding would be held.
Liam actually agreed with their reasoning. They were indeed still a bit young. Plus, he planned to take Delia on journeys elsewhere, so being engaged and having the title of fiancée for now was acceptable… After all, she wasn't going anywhere, right?
A week after Liam returned, the entire Pallet Town was brimming with a cheerful atmosphere.
Pallet Town didn't have many residents, and everyone knew Liam and Delia. As news of their engagement spread, the whole town pitched in to help prepare.
Meanwhile, Liam was still in his room, standing in front of a full-length mirror.
He wore a pure white suit, sharply tailored and fitted. His black hair was neatly styled, exuding youthful energy. His slightly thin face bore a soft smile, and his bright eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Liam! It's almost time—we need to head out!"
Just then, Professor Oak opened the door and walked in, dressed formally as well. Seeing Liam looking a little nervous, he couldn't help but smile.
"Oh! It's time? Oh—oh, right, let's go! Wait, no—do I have everything?!"
Hearing Professor Oak, Liam suddenly panicked. All his usual calmness from battles was gone; he was just a teenager overwhelmed by happiness.
"Haha, relax! Don't worry about a thing—we've already prepared everything for you. Just come with me, don't keep Delia waiting..."
Professor Oak laughed, grabbed Liam's arm, and pulled him along like a wooden puppet with no resistance.
The engagement ceremony was set at the Oak Research Lab, and by noon, the place was buzzing with excitement.
The entire research facility had been decorated with flowers and balloons. In the backyard, the engagement stage and a vast buffet had been prepared, covering the entire entrance area.
Plenty of guests had arrived for Liam and Delia's engagement. First and foremost were the Oak and Ketchum families—the hosts, of course.
Then there were Bruno and Lance, who hadn't left yet and had been out training in the wild for nearly a month. Upon hearing there'd be free food, they didn't hesitate to join.
Other guests included some of the friends Liam had made during the League tournaments—Anon, Axu, Cissy and her junior, along with several Trainers who had received guidance from Liam. Many rushed over upon hearing the news, which touched Liam deeply… even when Cissy's little junior made faces and stuck her tongue out at him in disdain—Liam still felt moved!
But among the guests, the most surprising appearance came from a group dressed in black.
"Haha! Giovanni? Sister Miyamoto? Takeshi? Little Jessie~ Little Cory~ You guys came too? Uh… Koga? Lt. Surge? Blaine? You all came together?"
Liam hurried over, laughing and greeting the familiar faces with pleasant surprise.
"Hmph, it's your big day—we're here to celebrate, of course. But you didn't even tell us in advance! Lucky I still have good intel, or you would've slipped by unnoticed!"
Giovanni's tone carried a trace of annoyance as he looked at Liam.
"Hahaha, I didn't really invite anyone… I don't know how so many people ended up showing up. Heh, thanks for bearing with me."
Liam scratched his head with an embarrassed smile.
"Well then, I guess it's time to officially reintroduce ourselves. Hello again—our Team Rocket vortex leader..."
Koga stepped forward with a teasing smile, while Lt. Surge behind him smiled faintly and nodded silently at Liam.
"! Haha, so that's how it is… Welcome, welcome. With you two joining, our power has grown even stronger."
Liam immediately understood what Koga meant—both Gym Leaders had now joined Team Rocket. Their strength was beyond question. With them, the organization had added two more top-tier forces.
"Been a while, kid. Hehehe, I didn't expect to see you getting engaged next time we met. But I heard you're not marrying that little girl who came with you to my Gym last time, eh? Heh, looks like someone's quite the ladies' man~"
That came from Blaine. Wearing sunglasses and a mischievous smile, he teased Liam mercilessly.
"Ahem!! Ahem!! I've got stuff to do! You all enjoy the party, have fun!"
At Blaine's words, Liam coughed violently, shot him a horrified look, and fled the scene—earning a round of hearty laughter from the crowd.
Most of the town's residents had gathered for the event, each helping out in some way—cooking, decorating, or simply enjoying the moment.
By noon, Liam stood on the stage, Professor Oak beside him. All the guests were seated below, and Liam's Pokemon stood to the side of the stage—aside from the restless Larvitar, the rest were calmly facing the backyard entrance, waiting for the girl's arrival.
Just then, a flurry of colorful flower petals floated in from the door.
Delia, dressed in formal attire and holding Mr. Ketchum's arm, began walking toward Liam. Behind her, Lorelei followed closely as a bridesmaid, a soft smile on her face.
Seeing Delia approaching, Liam's heart pounded with nervous anticipation. He quickly stepped down from the stage to welcome her.
Mr. Ketchum looked at Liam with satisfaction. Gently releasing Delia's hand, he placed it into Liam's and looked up seriously.
"Liam… we're entrusting Delia to you from now on. We know you're a good boy. We believe you'll make her happy."
Liam took Delia's hand and, equally serious, looked back at Mr. Ketchum.
"I promise I will, Father-in-law!"
