Going back a little in time to when Lucario's four Pokémon appeared to rescue Gary.
The battle between Green and Sabrina had entered a fierce stage.
However, although Sabrina possessed psychic abilities, she had only created an illusion based on Green's deepest fears as the battlefield, then fought Green honestly within it.
Compared to the series of impressive performances by Lt. Surge and Koga, Sabrina was quite conscientious—merely creating an illusion that made things somewhat unsettling for Green.
However, although Sabrina was a veteran Gym Leader level powerhouse while Green was only a newbie with Gym Leader level strength, and she should have been the one suppressing Green in battle, in reality, Green actually held the upper hand in this fight.
Because Sabrina currently only had one Pokémon. Even if that Pokémon was her strongest Alakazam—which could also Mega Evolve—no matter what, it couldn't change the disadvantage of having only one Pokémon.
Facing the coordinated attacks of Green's six Pokémon, plus Green's endless tactical variations, Sabrina, who only had one Alakazam in hand, was beaten back by Green and nearly struck several times.
There was no helping it. The Gym Leader level Mega Alakazam was indeed very strong, but although Sabrina herself possessed psychic powers, she wasn't exaggeratedly powerful physically. So sometimes when Green couldn't overcome Mega Alakazam directly, she would cunningly attack Sabrina herself, forcing Mega Alakazam to return and protect Sabrina.
But even though Green held the upper hand, she couldn't defeat Mega Alakazam.
Not to mention that the Gym Leader level Mega Alakazam was stronger than all six of Green's Pokémon combined—Green's tactics and methods barely bridged the gap—but even if Green temporarily injured Mega Alakazam, it proved useless.
Because Mega Alakazam knew Recover, and would restore its HP whenever it found an opportunity, forcing Green to start the battle all over again.
Therefore, although Green held the advantage, her advantageous position could easily reverse into an unfavorable one. So although she appeared smiling and confident on the surface, deep down she remained extremely cautious.
"Why hasn't she sent out the legendary bird to fight? If she released it, the situation would reverse instantly."
This was also what confused Green. As long as Sabrina hadn't sent out the legendary bird, Green couldn't afford to relax.
Should she test the waters?
With this thought in mind, Green prepared to speak and probe.
"Sabrina, you should just admit defeat. You always look so gloomy. Not only is your skin rough, but your figure isn't as good as mine either."
After saying that, Green proudly puffed out her chest, which looked particularly ample due to the Poké Balls hidden inside, with a smug expression on her face.
When she said this, she actually had to admit that Sabrina not only possessed the best temperament and appearance, but her skin was also as white as snow and her figure was quite well-developed. However, they would never be larger than hers with the Poké Balls hidden inside.
"You... good! Very good!"
Sabrina became completely enraged, saying "good" twice in succession, each one more forceful than the last.
"Hmph! The time has come. Moltres has probably recovered by now. I'll use it to finish you off!"
Sabrina raised her Gold Badge and directly summoned the Moltres that had been resting on the top floor of the Silph Co. building.
A few days ago, Moltres had been defeated by Mewtwo and suffered severe injuries. It had been recuperating ever since.
It wasn't that Team Rocket didn't want to treat Moltres, but rather that Moltres was deliberately resisting Team Rocket's treatment.
Because Moltres knew that as long as its injuries hadn't fully healed, Team Rocket wouldn't dare send it out to battle, fearing it might be defeated again.
As a result, Moltres was temporarily freed from being controlled by Team Rocket to fight and kill, while Articuno and Zapdos suffered terribly in its absence.
Even though the three legendary birds were controlled, they still retained their dignity as legendary Pokémon. If there was any alternative, who would willingly accept being controlled?
However, even though Moltres resisted Team Rocket's treatment, its physique as a legendary Pokémon meant it could recover naturally even without medical intervention. Even if it forcibly suppressed its self-recovery speed, it would still heal—it was merely a matter of time.
Until today, Moltres had finally recovered completely despite deliberately suppressing its recovery rate. The reason Sabrina hadn't released it at the beginning was simply to prevent it from being severely injured again, which would cause their plan to fail.
But now the time had arrived. A certain machine was nearly fully charged, and it was time to release Moltres.
Moltres, who had been on the top floor of the Silph Co. building laughing at Zapdos for getting beaten, suddenly felt an ominous premonition when it sensed Sabrina summoning it with the Badge.
Under Zapdos's weird and gloating gaze, Moltres reluctantly took flight and flew toward Sabrina's location.
Sabrina wasn't far from the top floor, so it took Moltres less than ten seconds to fly to the floor where Sabrina stood, burst through the window, and arrive at Sabrina's side.
At the same time, the illusion Sabrina had created earlier disappeared, because she felt it was unnecessary. With Moltres in hand, she could directly eliminate Green—why would she need an illusion?
In Green's eyes, the environment that had once frightened her vanished, but something even more terrifying now appeared.
Beside Sabrina, Moltres was making sharp bird cries, flames burning across its entire body like a god of fire. Now it spread its wings to display its power and overwhelming presence.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, Green. It's just one legendary Pokémon. Hold on!"
The moment she saw Moltres appear, Green's pupils contracted and her entire body trembled, but she bit her tongue hard, using the pain to force herself to calm down.
Moreover, she had specifically captured several large Bird-type Pokémon and trained them extensively.
Now, when facing such a giant bird, she could at least control her inner fear to some degree.
However, in this somewhat timid state, it was questionable whether she could exert even half of her usual strength in battle.
But Green had no choice. Because Team Rocket had acted early, Green had too little time to train herself, and this was the best she could currently manage.
"Oh my... You seem very frightened of Moltres. You're trying so hard to overcome your fear—I truly admire you. But in your current state, I really want to see how you're going to fight next!"
Sabrina crossed her arms over her chest, and a smile appeared on her cold, beautiful face. She was normally so cold that she rarely smiled. The reason she smiled this time was because she could finally eliminate this annoying little girl before her!
"Moltres! Fire Blast! Kill her!"
Upon hearing this command, Moltres released a sharp bird cry, and scorching flames erupted from its beak, attacking Green.
"Blastoise! Hydro Pump!"
Blastoise aimed its cannon barrels at the incoming flames and released a fierce stream of high-pressure water in an attempt to extinguish Moltres's flaming attack.
However, how could a mere Gym Leader level Blastoise extinguish the flames of a peak Elite level Moltres?
The cross-shaped explosive flames confronted the high-pressure water stream, directly vaporizing it, then continued attacking Green.
Having Blastoise defend against such an attack was a mistake caused by Green's timid state, but such a mistake was fatal.
If certain Pokémon hadn't arrived to rescue her in time, Green would probably have died here today.
"CROAK!"
Led by Greninja, Eddie's four Pokémon—Greninja, Sylveon, Snorlax, and Mega Tyranitar—finally arrived at the battlefield.
The moment they reached the battlefield, all four Pokémon used Hydro Pump simultaneously, and four high-pressure water streams merged together and sprayed toward the flames.
After roughly extinguishing the flames, the high-pressure water stream, with its power barely diminished, directly attacked Moltres!
The Hydro Pumps used by four Champion-level Pokémon merged together to form a massive Hydro Pump—its power was tremendous!
