"Hurry up! We need to get out of here - that terrifying guy is already attacking!" one Team Rocket grunt shouted in panic.
"I know, I know! Don't rush me - my Weezing is using Smokescreen right now. Let's move!" another replied frantically.
"Wait for me, you guys! My legs are too short to keep up!" a third operative called out desperately.
Jessie, James, and Meowth were also trembling with fear at Eddie's presence and attempting to flee with the rest of their team.
Unfortunately, their luck seemed particularly poor. Despite being positioned at the rear of the group, Eddie spotted them easily while riding Charizard through the sky.
"Why do those two people and that Meowth look so familiar..." Eddie muttered to himself as he observed them from above.
"Oh well, there are only a few Team Rocket members I actually recognize. These two are probably direct subordinates of the three Executives," he reasoned aloud.
"Since they work under Sabrina, I'll show the three Executives some respect and let these operatives escape," Eddie decided pragmatically.
After all, he might have opportunities to cooperate with those three in the future. Even though they were currently enemies, Eddie could afford to spare a couple of their underlings.
"But I shouldn't make it too obvious. Charizard, use Flamethrower!" Eddie commanded.
Charizard immediately understood its trainer's intent and launched a blazing flame attack toward Jessie, James, and Meowth.
"Hey, hey, hey! He's attacking us! Nooooo!" James shrieked with his characteristic sharp eyesight, spotting Eddie's assault before the attack even landed.
The flames struck the ground beneath their feet, creating a powerful explosion that sent Jessie, James, Meowth, and their Weezing flying through the air.
"Ahhhh! What a disgusting feeling!" they cried out in unison as they were blasted away, delivering the familiar line that Eddie recognized all too well.
"...That catchphrase, the combination of two people and a Meowth... no way. I don't remember this trio existing in this world..." Eddie stared at the departing figures, his eye twitching constantly.
Before traveling to this world, he had frequently encountered these three "true protagonists" in the anime. However, this was genuinely his first time seeing them in person during this "Pokemon Era."
"Maybe I just didn't notice them in my previous life," Eddie mused, trying to rationalize their unexpected appearance.
Regardless, these three were merely comedic characters who wouldn't pose any real threat to his plans.
Perhaps their bumbling performance might even change other people's perceptions of Team Rocket's competence? Eddie didn't dwell on the thought further.
He commanded his Pokemon to capture all the remaining Team Rocket operatives who hadn't managed to escape, then rode Charizard back to Green's location.
Green had also managed to capture several Team Rocket members during the chaos. However, since Blastoise was currently her only available Pokemon, the number of prisoners she had secured was relatively modest.
Eddie noticed that Green's mission status hadn't updated to show completion yet.
"It appears those guys will return to find Green again. The disk we just recovered must indeed be a fake," he concluded silently.
Eddie had been monitoring the mission parameters throughout Team Rocket's collective retreat, but it was obviously too early to consider the matter resolved.
"Green, why did you choose to provoke Team Rocket in the first place? You witnessed Lt. Surge's strength and Team Rocket's capabilities aboard the S.S. Anne. They're extremely dangerous opponents. What motivated you to antagonize them?" Eddie asked directly after securing the captured Team Rocket operatives by freezing their hands and feet.
Although he already knew the reason, he needed to ask Green now to avoid appearing suspiciously knowledgeable about her motivations.
Green had calmed down considerably by this point. After all, Eddie's earlier intimate gestures had simply been examples of the suspension bridge effect in action.
Now that Green had regained her composure, she naturally wouldn't assume she had experienced some kind of destined encounter.
Eddie didn't mind this development. His teasing behavior toward Green had been casual, and he hadn't expected to gain anything significant from it.
"Hehe, it's obviously for Mew! We're talking about a legendary Pokemon!" Green replied, first sticking out her tongue with slight embarrassment before explaining her reasoning.
"For Mew? And then what? Are you planning to do something similar to Team Rocket and extract some of Mew's cells for experiments?" Eddie questioned her in return.
He already knew Green's answer in his heart, but he needed to prepare himself mentally for what was coming, otherwise he might not be able to control his reaction...
"Team Rocket's goal is just to obtain some of Mew's cells?" Green asked with surprise.
"Forget that! I won't settle for such unambitious goals like them. I intend to capture Mew itself!" she declared boldly.
"Handsome Morning Sun, would you be interested in cooperating with me to capture Mew together? We could sell it afterward and definitely make enormous profits! We'll split the money fifty-fifty!" Green proposed with one eye closed and her head tilted upward in a confident pose.
According to her understanding, a powerful trainer like Eddie would surely be interested in Mew, even if he wasn't motivated by monetary gain.
Besides, Eddie was incredibly strong. With his assistance, capturing Mew would definitely be achievable!
Green, who had no concept of what legendary Pokemon truly represented, thought this plan was perfectly reasonable and waited eagerly for Eddie's response.
One minute passed. Green maintained her pose with one eye closed and head raised, but Eddie still hadn't replied to her proposal.
Not only that, but contrary to Green's expectations, Eddie showed no signs of excitement or curiosity. Instead, he appeared to be struggling to suppress some kind of reaction.
Just as Green was growing impatient and preparing to ask Eddie why he looked so strange, Eddie finally lost his composure.
The truth was, Eddie considered himself a noble, pure, moral person who was free from vulgarity and beneficial to society.
Most importantly, he was a thoroughly professional individual who had received strict training.
Under normal circumstances, he would never laugh inappropriately, unless...
He genuinely couldn't help himself.
"Hahaha! I'm dying of laughter!" Eddie burst out uncontrollably.
"Capture Mew? And then sell it for money? Hahaha, Green, I never expected you to be so wonderfully innocent and cute! Hahaha!" Eddie continued laughing heartily.
Eddie couldn't contain himself any longer. He had known about Green's outrageous plan from the comics before arriving in this world, and it had been hilarious even then.
Hearing Green voice this absurd scheme in person proved even more amusing than he had anticipated.
Capture a legendary Pokemon? With just two people who were merely Elite-level trainers? Even Team Rocket required various specialized equipment and the combined power of multiple Gym Leaders to dare attempt capturing the three legendary birds.
When facing a legendary Pokemon like Mew, even Giovanni himself might not succeed in such an endeavor.
Under these circumstances, Green naively believed that she and Eddie could somehow capture Mew together.
And she had already begun fantasizing about selling their prize afterward!
Capturing the legendary Pokemon Mew, and then putting it up for sale!
Capture a legendary Pokemon! Sell it for profit!
The most important points deserved to be emphasized repeatedly to truly highlight their absurdity, didn't they?
