Dear diary, I've met an interesting person today. That person is a knight. He first came at the adventurer guild bringing a piece of paper. Jack didn't like it, so he cut the paper in half and provoked the knight. I think he had a bad experience with knights before. His provocation failed so he tried to beat up the knight, only to fail aswell. The skilless Jack then suddenly developed a skill just to punch the knight. It still failed though and his arm broke down, unable to withstand the power from his skill.
The knight then gave Jack some sort of potion that I have never seen before. But I do know one thing, that is a potent potion. So much so that Jack's hand not only did it get better, it also got stronger. So, of course I have to take some for myself for inspection. Since I only got a little bit of the potion, it will take a while before the result came out. That's what she said so I guess I just need to wait.
Later on, I "summon" the knight? I don't exactly know if he did got summon thanks to the paper, but he did appear. So, I tested him, to see his personality. I expected him to get angry when I ripped the paper right in front of him. Instead, he thought I was showing him how disrespectful he was back at the adventurer guild. I still need more information, so I ask him to come inside.
He didn't seem suspicious of me when he was inside my house. He even drank the tea I offered without hesitation. It seems that I need to truly test him, so I ask him to escort me to the top of a mountain.
RUSTLE RUSTLE
Something's wrong here. We've been going around this place three times now, and no monster have appeared. This place should be infested with at least one or two monsters, but not only do I not see one, I don't sense one whatsoever. Is it because of him? Is his mere presence enough to deter the monsters around? I have no choice but to go with plan B now.
CLANG
I didn't want to do this, but I have to see, just what kind of person he really is.
SLURP
That was nice, now let's get down to business.
CLANG
"Let's go, There's still some distance before we reach our destination."
Now that we have left the area, the smell of the tea should start to linger now. And when the beast came, you will show your true colors to me Mr. knight.
RUSTLE RUSTLE
There she is, now what are you going to do Mr. Knight? Will you stay and protect me? Or will you run away in fear and leave your client that you suppose to protect? Now show me, show ME!
"Lady Scholar, I ask you to stay behind me."
"Very well Mr. knight."
Trying to stay calm are we, well then let us see how long can you act this way.
BOOM
He's fine? After taking an attack by the forest beast head on and his, fine? With one arm even. I know his strong but this is something else. But, it's okay, I've expected he wouldn't go down without a fight. Now that you are attacked by an unknown monster, what will be your respond Mr. Knight?
"Mighty beast of the woods, I ask you, leave and never RETURN!"
Did he just tried to intimidate the forest beast? That's a pretty bold move to do, but would it work?
"Impudent knight, it is you who trespass on my territory and you dare to tell me to leave my HOME?!"
His intimidation failed. Not only did it failed, he made the forest beast angry. I don't see anyway for Mr. Knight to get out of this situation besides fighting. He must've thought he had no chance against the beast, that's why he tried to intimidate them. Now, what's your next course of action Mr. Knight?
"I see. Forgive me for my impudence master of the forest, I do not wish to cause trouble in your territory."
He apologized.
"I sense sincerity in your words, knight. Very well, I shall let this matter off if you answer my question."
It was accepted.
"Very well, I shall answer any question with honesty as I am at fault."
His admitting to his wrongdoings. It's not entirely his fault though, but he doesn't need to know that.
"Good, now may you tell me the reason for your presence in my forest?"
GLANCE
What are you looking at me for, you're the one being asked. Besides, this is a dangerous situation, so you have to find a way to get out of it. But, if I we're the one to answer, the best way to do it is to be honest. The opponent has shown that they are willing to listen to us when we made a mistake, so we should reply with honesty. That's how I would do it, so how would you do it Mr. Knight?
"I am but a humble knight, on a mission to escort my lady to the top of the mountain."
Humble? Maybe.
"Which mountain are you looking for?"
"The one which produce the most splendid tea leaves."
That is true.
"And your reason to reach the mountain?"
"My lady wish to do business with the owner of the tea plantation."
Don't just tell others my business.
"I do not sense any malice behind your word humble knight. Very well, I shall permit you to enter the mountain."
"I thank you master of the forest."
That's it? A bit underwhelming in my opinion. At the end, they just had a conversation. On one side, Mr. knight is someone reasonable who knows when they are in the wrong. On the other, I don't know if he's actually strong strong or not. Should I provoke them into fighting each other?
"Thank you master of the forest. Lady scholar, may I assist you."
Seems like it's not possible.
LEAP
Sorry, but I don't trust you yet. Until I figure out who you truly are that is.
