Chapter 63 - Burn Baby Burn

A furious Klaus stormed in, the hybrids parting before him as all eyes landed on him.

Glancing down at the bodies, Tyler amongst them, he scowled as his eyes landed on the few vamps standing in his way.

This was beyond disappointing.

Spotting Tristan in the distance, he moved.

First vamp swung way too slow as Klaus sped by, obliterating his head in passing.

Second vamp fared no better.

The third, a bit faster than his companions, managed to strike true as Klaus caught his arm and head, tearing off his arm while smashing his face through the wall.

Appearing before the fourth, Klaus's hands both pierced through his chest and tore him in half with a roar, glaring demonically at Aya through the shower of blood.

Unnerved by the display, Aya steeled herself and launched forward. eyes darting behind him as she went.

Klaus threw a strike and missed as she slid beneath, going for the stake.

Giving her no time to act, he was upon her as she pulled it free, grabbing the hand holding the stake, and pinning it and her neck against the floor, realizing the potential threat it carried.

"Nice try. Aya, is it? The one Elijah was with," he snorted, "He was always a fool."

"Better a fool than a monster!" she snapped, her free hand going for his eye, which he caught by removing his hand from her throat.

Neck free, Aya then shot her head forward and tried to bite him as he leaned back, avoiding her fangs. Getting his feet under him, he stepped on her chest and pulled both arms, tearing them off as she screamed.

"Going for the bite, I see, you're already dead," said Klaus, smelling the venom coursing through her veins.

"Pathetic," Klaus said, leaving her there suffering and going after Tristan.

"He's coming," a witch informed him.

"I'm aware," said Tristan, pulling out the Serratura as he stepped out of the Estate, and used it to close the path behind him, blocking Klaus, who appeared in a rage, beating against the invisible barrier.

"TRISTAN! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BROTHER?!" shouted Klaus angrily, smashing through the wall to the side, to no success, and then a window and another, only to find the barrier far more expansive than he could have ever guessed.

"Is he trapped in there for good?" asked Tristan, pleasantly surprised at the success.

"Unlikely, the estate is too large for it to have covered it all without a ritual," answered a witch.

"Shame. To the garage then, before he figures it out," said Tristan, maintaining his usual composed manner as Klaus continued to try and find a way out. The underlying anger going unnoticed, quietly simmering beneath the surface as he lost everything despite nearly having it all. Yet, he couldn't afford to lose control; his life was at greater risk than ever, with Elijah compromised by the stake and an unhinged Original hybrid no longer adhering to the rules.

Seeing Tristan nowhere in sight after finding an opening, having long since driven away, Klaus roared angrily, then recalled there was still one person he could ask, returning to the armless Aya, bleeding out on the floor.

Happy to find her still miraculously clinging to consciousness while his Hybrids finished the one-armed vamp he slammed through the wall.

"You will tell me about those stakes and what they did to my brother, or you will suffer," Klaus threatened.

She only laughed at his attempts to question her until he forcibly fed her his blood, thus keeping her alive for further torture.

"Grab her, and anyone who's been staked, and meet back with the others," ordered Klaus.

In the ballroom, Klaus walked down the line of staked Hybrids, stopping at his brother.

"Kill the staked Hybrids, they're useless now, but save the stakes," said Klaus after much contemplation. He wanted nothing more than to burn them and eliminate the threat they posed, but he needed them for Finn, a possible lucky break in this otherwise monumental shit show of a day.

Although the hybrids wanted to question him, they could do nothing more than follow orders as they went about ending them.

"Oh, and have any of you seen Lucien or his lot since we started this?" asked Klaus.

Looking around at all the blank stares and shaking heads, he sneered, "I thought not." Another one he'd have to kill, right after he found a witch to help him with his brother.

...

Before sunrise, Finn was nailing metal spikes into a boulder on top of a mountain, which he placed Kol upon, facing the open sky, still helplessly trapped to the ancient magical artifact, the Restraining Rod and Chains.

"You know, there's this one weakness everyone seems to forget about us, and today we're going to test it, push it to its limits," said Finn, stringing him up so he couldn't fall off due to all the thrashing, wrapping him up in more chains.

"Finn, what are you doing? You don't have to do this. You can stop, we're family man… FINN!" Kol shouted fearfully, pleading for his life.

"They tend to forget that we can burn just like regular vamps," Finn went on to say, pulling the daylight ring off of Kol.

"And while we don't burn as fast as regular vamps, I'm sure given enough time, it'll work just as well," said Finn, stepping back to view his work.

"Please no, you don't have to do this, Finn, FINN!" Kol yelled desperately.

"Might take a full day of sunlight. We're about to find out. Don't worry, I've checked, there's nothing but clear skies on the horizon," said Finn, as the sun began to peak over the horizon.

"FINN!" Kol continued to cry all the way up until the first rays hit him, and then he burned and screamed.

Finn sighed, "It's times like these I miss a good fire-cooked meal."

"Wait fuck, I forgot... Hey, Kol, tell me where the golden dagger is and I'll end you quick," said Finn.

Now fully ablaze, Kol could barely hear him over his own screams and the all-encompassing pain.

"KOL! THE GOLDEN DAGGER AND I END IT," Finn yelled next to his ear.

"AHHH, UNDERNEATH LENORE'S HOUSE, SPELLED," Kol desperately screamed.

"Thanks, I'll check on you later and see how you're doing, cya later Kol... or not," said Finn, walking away.

"AHHH FINN! FINN! YOU FUCKER! FINN! AHHH!"
