Chapter 40 - Davina

At the Abattoir.

A couple of hybrids dragged Marcel in, placing him before Klaus, who frowned. "What's this?"

"We were tracking Finn when he entered the city like you asked us to, but somehow we lost him, then the church blew out and we went to investigate and found Marcel like this underneath the priest and others talking about how Finn got to him and took a girl away. A witch, I think," explained one of the hybrids.

Klaus crouched down, taking a closer look at him. "Consorting with witches, are we? Now, why would that be given your hatred of them?"

"I don't think he can talk, or move for that matter, he's been stuck like this since we found him," said the hybrid.

"Compelled then," Klaus sighed, standing back up. "Did the priest give you trouble?"

"No, they knew better," the hybrid replied.

"Well, what are we going to do about you?" asked Klaus, looking down at him.

Lucien walked in. "I have a witch who could help."

After a moment of looking at his pathetic adopted son, Klaus said, "Get her." He needed answers.

After not finding Sage and placing Davina down in the guest bedroom, Finn went out looking for another witch to use.

Later, he could be seen standing in a basement cellar, standing over a corpse.

'Too many rings,' Finn thought as he put on another. This time, a plain silver ring on his left pinky finger next to his ornate silver wedding ring, with a matching one for Davina.

Looking over at his daylight ring on his middle right finger, a golden hexagon with a lapis lazuli center, a symbol of his family and his original witch mother, Esther. Funny enough, it's the same place Sage and many others choose to wear it.

Sighing, he vamp sped home, delivering it to Davina before she passed.

He immediately felt the drain when he slipped it onto her finger, feeling a bit like a fool after criticizing Marcel for his vervain usage, though it was for a very different reason. Choosing to save her would weaken him in the short term if she didn't prove useful. However, he believed the risk was worth it with Bonnie in town and likely gunning for him.

She was strong, but Davina was on a whole nother level; he could practically feel the magic rolling off her. He wasn't sure what they were trying to accomplish with that spell, but she now had the energy of the three other witches who were sacrificed before her, as well as that of the ancestors of the witch community flowing through her.

Davina may very well be one of the most powerful witches to date. All he had to do was gain her loyalty, and it would all be worth it.

Binding her to him with the rings was only the first step..

And it was nice to know he could kill her when ever he wanted by just removing the ring, though he felt like he should probably teach her to control her magic better so she doesn't die instantly should he need to remove it temporarily, however no amount of control would allow her to escape this fate so long as she carries more magic then her body could naturally handle.

In the future, should there be no more threats, he may help her remove the excess, allowing her to go back to living a normal life should she wish to, if she proves worthy enough.

The moment the ring was put on, Davina's breathing relaxed, and she opened her eyes.

"I feel… Good, great, even. I've never felt this good before," said Davina, sitting up directly. Her power now stabilized thanks to Finn.

"With that on you'll no longer have to fear death for as long as I live," said Finn, seeing her eyes drifting towards the ring.

"I, don't know what to say," said Davina. "Thank you," she said, and hugged him.

Caught off guard by the show of affection, Finn cleared his throat, "Ahem, no problem."

"Finn, I'm home and I have news," said Sage, entering the front door.

"Whose that?" asked Davina.

"That would be my wife. Come on, let me introduce you," said Finn, helping her off the bed.

"Who is this?" asks Sage, eyeing the young girl.

"Don't tell me you forgot, I'm sure I already told you," said Finn, looking shocked.

Sage scowled, "Now I know your fucking messing with me or something is seriously wrong with you, so which is it?"

He chuckled, "Alright, you got me. This is Davina, my new personal witch friend. I give her freedom, she gives me magic, a win-win."

Davina didn't deny it, liking the sound of that.

"I knew it! You've been fucking with me this entire time haven't you?" asked Sage ignoring the stuff about Davina.

"Well, not the entire time, I mean we aren't doing it now," said Finn nonchalantly.

Davina blushed.

"God, do you ever stop?!" said Sage.

Finn grinned, "Sounds familiar, but you should know that better than anyone."

Davina hid her face.

Sage sighed, "I give up, why do I even bother?"

He laughed.

Ignoring him, Sage goes over to Davina and introduces herself, "Hi, I'm Sage, the wife of this big lug," backhanding Finn's stomach harder than he would have liked, cutting off his laugh as she gives him a playful smirk.

Davina drops her hands to greet her, "Hi, how do you do?"

As if noticing her for the first time, Sage closes the gap, brushing Davina's hair behind her ear, "Well, aren't you a pretty little thing?"

"Thanks, you're also very pretty," said Davina shyly, oblivious to Sage's lingering gaze.

"I hope you don't mind, but I had to give Davina a ring like ours, or she would have died. She has more magic than her body can handle, and this was the only way to keep her alive..." said Finn, further explaining the circumstances.

Sage frowned, checking out the ring, and then lightened upon hearing the explanation.

"You poor dear, of course it's okay," said Sage, giving Davina a much-needed hug, trying not to picture him railing the cute little witch, her old tendencies acting up. She needed to get it together before Finn smelled it, and she had to explain her unusual fetish before she was ready.

"Sage," Finn called out as the hug dragged on.

"Hmm?" Sage hummed questioningly, turning her head to face him, stopping her hand from drifting any lower to test whether the adorable little witch's dainty rear could handle him.

"You said you had news," Finn prompted.

"Oh, right," said Sage, letting Davina go, who looked just as unwilling, though for a much more innocent reason, to be sure.

"The Strix have arrived," said Sage.
