"Yes," Hugh nodded. "Manifesting a daemon is easier than breaking the chains blocking the link between master and daemon. Many have succeeded in manifesting daemons, but few have actually broken the chains."
The next second, he bent down and looked her in the eyes seriously. "That is why you must succeed. Or... you can decide to not do anything at all. That would leave you with a daemon unable to unleash its potential."

She met eyes with Hugh and said with certainty. "That's not going to happen. I'll break those chains."
