"Huff—"
Just after Aoki finished scanning Kirlia's information, he heard a steady breathing sound in his arms. Looking down, he found that Kirlia had fallen asleep.
The side effects of the aptitude potion were not a major issue for Kirlia. A good night's rest would resolve them—if one night wasn't enough, two would suffice.
"Have a good rest, Kirlia," Aoki murmured, pleased with the changes in Kirlia after her evolution. Among his Pokémon, Kirlia now had the highest potential to reach the purple aptitude tier. He had never encountered a Pokémon with such qualifications before and wondered what changes would occur once she reached that level.
Kirlia's evolution had been a significant event, but Aoki's primary goal remained capturing all the Bulbasaur in this forest. However, the evolution had not gone unnoticed. The Bulbasaur tribe had begun to realize that some of their members had not returned after foraging, and the bright flash of light from Kirlia's evolution had drawn their attention.
Bang—bang—
Heavy footsteps echoed through the forest as a massive Pokémon with a giant flower on its back emerged into view. Aoki's lips curled slightly.
"Of course. A colony of Bulbasaur this large wouldn't survive without a Venusaur guarding them," he mused.
As Venusaur and his group approached, Aoki's Pokémon tensed, sensing the threat radiating from the powerful Grass-type.
Aoki studied the Venusaur—larger than average—and the group of Ivysaur and Bulbasaur trailing behind it.

A Venusaur in its prime, with unique traits.
The Bulbasaur and Ivysaur accompanying it suggested that the entire colony could inherit Grassy Terrain, which satisfied Aoki.
"Bulb—Bulba—"
One of the Bulbasaur beside Venusaur chirped, pointing at Aoki as if accusing him—yes, the earlier light had come from them.
"Venuuu—"
Venusaur's deep bellow resonated as its presence intensified. Tiny roots sprouted from its legs, burrowing into the soil. Sunlight pierced through the dense canopy, illuminating Venusaur despite the gray, misty sky. A strange light source, like a sun, allowed Grass-types to thrive here.
The sunlight gathered on Venusaur's flower, condensing into radiant energy.
"Straight to your strongest move? How aggressive," Aoki remarked dryly.
Venusaur ignored him, Solar Beam fully charged.
The massive flower tilted, aiming directly at Aoki's team.
Drapion bristled, but Aoki signaled patience—this wasn't its fight.
"Aggron," Aoki called.
The steel behemoth stepped forward, glaring defiantly at Venusaur. Though Solar Beam was a special attack, Aggron's sheer presence demanded respect.
Aoki retrieved a small stone from his bag. "Mega Evolution!"
A surge of energy enveloped Aggron, its body morphing into a silver-plated fortress.
Mega Aggron!
Now a pure Steel-type, Grass moves no longer affected it—though special attacks remained a threat.
"Blaziken! You're up!" Aoki commanded.
The ring on his finger glowed, activating the Mega Stone hidden in Blaziken's feathers. Flames erupted, coiling around its wrists and ankles as four vibrant ribbons materialized.
Mega Blaziken!
Venusaur unleashed Solar Beam.
Aggroooon!
Mega Aggron roared, charging forward with an arm raised. A green barrier shimmered—Iron Defense—as it braced against the blast.
Meanwhile, Mega Blaziken shot past, legs a blur as it closed in on Venusaur.
Vine Whips lashed out, but Blaziken dodged, retaliating with a blazing kick.
Venusaur bellowed in frustration as its attack failed. The Ivysaur and Bulbasaur scattered, but Blaziken's focus remained on their leader.
The battle had only just begun.
