Chapter 15 - Combo

Neuman carefully considered how to allocate his stat points. It was important to enhance his abilities, but he didn't want to use them all at once, only to regret it later on.

After thinking for some time, he decided and distributed the stat points accordingly. However, he kept some of the stat points for future use, reserving them for some unexpected situations.

Along with distributing the points, he also bought two skills from the [Market]. He had chosen them after careful consideration.

After finishing everything, Neuman checked his status window and smiled. His increased stats filled him with a deep sense of satisfaction as it showed how far he had come. If he had fought the previous battle with these stats, he knew it would have been much easier, and he could have wiped those rats with a single sweep of his spear. The surge of strength within him was much greater than before.

With his newly acquired Stealth and Combo skills, his abilities had reached new heights. After his magic power improved, he became more sensitive to the magical energy.

He could now sense a little magic power emanating from others, like the commander. It dawned on him that if he could sense their magic, they could sense his as well. Previously, his magic power was too low for others to notice, but now, after increasing it, he knew they would recognize his presence as a magic wielder.

If words got out, they would know that the one who killed the Rat Lord was him. Unlike others, who could only channel magic to reinforce their armor and weapons, he could summon fire and wield it effortlessly. But if people discovered his ability to directly control fire, something he had never seen anyone else do, how could he explain it?

Even the magic casters in the camp were using magic power by reciting some words and through concentration. Yet he, with just a thought, could not only summon fireballs but also cover his spear with fire, it will surely raise suspicion on him. This rapid development occurred in just one week, especially since Neuman had confirmed that he did not possess any magic power when he arrived here.

With this Stealth skill, he could mask the magic power emanating from his body. However, he would still be exposed if he were to use magic power so he can only use a spear or dagger in front of others. Fortunately, there was too much chaos in the underground passage after the rat lord attacked so no one saw him use magic power.

As for the combo skill, it had cost him 200 soul points but the investment was well worth it. This skill made it much easier for him to integrate all his skills, like using his fire control together with spear techniques, far more efficiently. He can now familiarize himself with these skills slowly as he progresses.

The city ruins were now free of rats, as most of them were cleared out yesterday. He could now rest until the battalion returned to the kingdom, but he replaced this thought and gripped his spear and went out of his tent

Leaving the camp, he set his sights on the forest. Hunting would be a good way to sharpen his skills and level up. He already knew this part of the woods had wolves.

The forest stretched far ahead, dense but not suffocating. Neuman, along with his spear, kept moving around the city ruins. His pace was fast due to the increased agility. He was now eager to test the Combo skill, as he already had many thoughts on how to use it.

He hadn't gone far when he heard a low growl. From behind the bushes, a pair of sharp yellow eyes gleamed. A wolf with its teeth bared lunged at Neuman.

"Perfect," Neuman muttered. This was exactly what he had been looking forward to—a low-level enemy to practice on.

Neuman sidestepped with agility and his spear shot forward with swift precision, aimed in the wolf's direction. The spear penetrated the wolf's chest, causing it to howl in pain. Without hesitation, Neuman kicked the wolf off the spear, finishing it in one swift motion.

[Forest wolf killed]

[+100 exp]

[+1 soul point]

It was very easy to finish the wolf and Neuman didn't even need to use magic for it. He then decided to enter more deeply into the forest.

It didn't take long before he encountered a pack of wolves. The one from before must be from this group, and due to the howl before its death, the others from the pack came to find it. Seeing Neuman alone, they directly attacked him.

Neuman danced back, analyzing the situation. He needed to be efficient. This wasn't just about killing the wolves; it was about honing his skills. He needed to incorporate his Flame Control.

He channeled his magic, the familiar warmth spreading through him. He imagined the spearhead engulfed in flames. With a flick of his wrist, tendrils of fire erupted around the spear. It wasn't perfect control yet, the flames were a bit erratic, but it was a start.

The wolves hesitated for a fraction of a second, startled by the sudden burst of fire. Neuman seized the opportunity. He integrated his Combo skill, focusing on merging his spear techniques with flame control. With a sharp breath, he lunged forward, his burning weapon carving through the pack like a blazing extension of his will.

This time, the attack was different. Neuman's spear moved with a speed and precision he hadn't felt before. Flames surged, intensifying as the weapon tore through the wolf's hide, searing the wound. The creature yelped in agony, staggering back—but there was no time to hesitate.

The rest of the pack closed in, their movements swift and coordinated. Neuman pressed his advantage. He spun, using the momentum to deliver another flaming strike. His spear carved through the air, striking true. One wolf collapsed, whimpering, then lay still.

Neuman stood over the fallen beasts. He deactivated his Flame Control, watching as the fire dissipated. A surge of satisfaction coursed through him—the Combo skill was truly remarkable. It amplified his abilities, allowing him to execute attacks with far greater power and efficiency.

He was using the Combo skill to integrate only two of his skills. But as he gained more skills and combined them, it would become far deadlier. Purchasing this skill had been the right choice—it required extensive practice to master such skills, but the outcome is also immense.

The thrill of battle and the effectiveness of his new skills invigorated him. "This is just the beginning," he thought, a grin spreading across his face. He needed to practice more and perfect his combos. The potential was immense, and he was eager to unlock it all.
