While the trio were still wondering what he was going to do, Cassius flicked his fingers toward Noah.
"Start recording...Let's finish this quickly,."
Noah fumbled with the device, but quickly obeyed, holding it steady while backing several steps away. A faint red light pulsed alive upon the orb, it was recording.
Meanwhile, Cassius moved forward to the edge of the pit, his silhouette framed against the smoldering smoke and the grotesque sight of half-burned bodies, ash, and bone.
"Attention!" His voice boomed, smooth and commanding, rising above the murmurs of the families and the soldiers alike. "Can I get your attention once again?"
The words cut through the air, and instantly the murmurs died. Every head turned to him. Eyes filled with awe, with fear, with reverence, locked upon him.
To them, this man was terrifying yet divine, both savior and monster. And so they listened, holding their breath.
