It cut at her diaphragm, digging into her soul. Kate had her hand grabbed by Mother. She hugged Kate squeezing tight before she moved to the fridge but instead of opening the fridge door she, well, opened the fridge door. The metal shell of the silver door splitting with a hiss and the door split and rows upon rows of guns and gun parts and bullets were unfolding into what looked like shopping rack.
Mother tossed one of the guns at Griff, who had collected himself a bowl of cereal and with spoon to mouth, he snapped it out the air.
Kate was tossed a gun too which was placed on the table.
Another gun was tossed to Ella who screamed. There was a bang as the gun went off. White light burst from the weapon, raw heat splashing against all of their skin as a hole burst through the back door leading into the yard.
Ella and Zach were screaming as Ella's gun wobbled ad bounced before settling in her skinny pale hands, a thin line of smoke oozing out. Ella shivered, she was caught in a strange limbo as she clearly didn't want to hold it but could never let it go so it shivered between limp, trembling fingers.
"Hold it away from the others it's gonna go off again." Kate warned.
"What?" Ella screamed.
"Hold it properly!"
"What?"
It started humming and she just screamed and she aimed it up, thought better, and then aimed it at the floor away from the others, white light burst. Only there was no hole.
It hummed again but Ella's hands stayed on the spot.
"Now that's interesting." Mother said. "Now it's your turn." She said and tossed another gun to the others and Zach caught it in both hands, hands up as if it were a grenade, the barrel of the gun were in his hands pointed high.
"Responsible with a little experience too. Good stock. I believe you. And you?You actually waiting your turn? Run away!" Mother demanded of the tall Liam who simply stood there.
"They're good." Griff said with a mouthful of cereal.
Mother cocked her gun, with a coldness, waiting for an answer.
"Say the words." Mother whispered.
Liam gapped quivering.
"No."
Mother's entire demeanor changed a big fat smile forming. She rushed and collected the weapons from their trembling fingers.
