Chapter 64 - Chapter 6 Part 2.2

Kate stared at Sakura with deadpan eyes and Sakura grinned.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Sakura pulled up that cute face from the pyjama. There'd been no image brushing. Maing her cheeks that plump and rosy was a talent. Then a mocking pout formed with a big, exaggerated bottom lip. "Why'ee? Because Tiffan'nee will be mad?"

How were those words not supposed to make Kate's smile down to her organs, hell even her spleen was gushing. She wasn't supposed to be on the receiving side of winning someone over!

But winning another over needed a lie in the fine print. The joy faltered, spluttering awkwardly.

"I don't want to see myself." Kate said.

"But I want to see you. I want to see me with you."

"Um, well." Kate trailed off awkwardly. A silence hung infinitely. She looked down at the onesie again. "Is this really your butt?"

Sakura's gaze sharpened. Sakura knew exactly what Kate was doing. Good, Kate wasn't being subtle nor trying to be.

Sakura sat up and with a speed that made Kate flinch. Kate toppled with Sakura on top, Kate's hands were adjusted rather strategically.

"You tell me." Sakura said nose to nose.

That was Kate's fault, Sakura had been hunting for the opportunity. There was also a chance that she'd have pounced anyway. No doubt there were quite a few Sakura shaped fingerprints on her skin.

She was strange enough to be the type. Kate did the right thing and finished what she started. Sakura smiled, humming softly.

For a victim being preyed upon, Kate was doing a lot of work.

"I can stay like this forever." Sakura purred, it was so sweet, so soft.

Sakura had to be a robot, a cybernetic being. Even her soft and low purr was endlessly smooth, if Kate had done that she'd have coughed, run out of air and had to clear her throat.

Then a wall would fall to reveal an audience of a thousand watching her with pity. Yup, exactly that.

Kate cupped her cheek and kissed her. Her eyes closed against Sakura's brightness. Strawberries washed over her with a mintyness that caught Kate by surprise. Her logic department mind called bullshit, sending up detailed reports. Kate explored, it was all minty strawberries and smoothness porcelain. She'd definitely brushed her teeth! She'd been up, about, and slid back to bed to wait when Kate woke. Kate pushed up, their tongues exploring each other, curling and pulling back with their plunder of tastes.

Had Kate been cold the whole time? Had Sakura brushed her teeth, showered, put on some foundation, a little shadow and turned up the cold so Kate would wake up while she was still at her most fresh?

No. The storm came back, roaring whistling in her ears pressing down on her. Sakura grunted as Kate hugged hard and then she giggled a little and that pulled on some ripcord inside of Kate who suddenly let go, pulling herself up to her feet.

They both appeared to jump up.

She was panting.

"What's wrong?" Sakura asked.

Kate had to look away, seeing Sakura the way she was, was like staring at the sun.

"No, nothing, it's… I had a nightmare."

"A nightmare?" Sakura asked so genuinely confused, Kate wasn't sure if she was asking from the perspective of someone having a life so magical she literally had no idea.

"My mother's probably looking for me." Kate breathed.

Kate started to leave when Sakura grabbed her hand.

"Don't go. Before you slept you turned your Ping on. Your mom already knew where you were and wants you here. She's with Griff. They are going back to the event. If you want to go, that's okay." Sakura didn't look her in the eye at that moment, then was struck with hope. "But before you go, clean up. I got something for you."

Sakura ran and Kate's gaze could only last a moment. She had to turn away.

Soon Sakura was back with a brand new, untouched towel set. A rich rose red with a black ribbon. There were even tiny bottles of soap and shampoo, the type that Kate liked. The kind of thing her mom would know and happily divulge if asked by a cute little hottie who 'just wanted to help'.

Kate sighed. No getting out of that.
