Chapter 78 - Chapter Seventy-Eight - A Beast

"What the heck is this?"

After travelling for another two days, the trio eventually reached the place where Rick and the others were before and witnessed something horrifying that sent shivers down their spine.

"Whoa, this is even larger than the one we encountered in Houston. You can't even see the end of it. Just how many of them are over there?" Rosita saw the massive herd ahead of them and couldn't help but also feel the same horror and amazement that the other two with her are currently feeling right now.

"Probably a million or more." Michael responded to her words. He feels horrified since he wasn't expecting such a huge danger so close to them, but at the same time, he also feels somewhat excited at the prospect of being able to obtain [Coins] in the thousands!

'Hmmm..can I handle that many?' Michael started having absurd ideas.

Fortunately, he was able to immediately rationalize his thinking and slightly shook his head. 'What am I even thinking? No matter how slow they are, they're going to drown me with their numbers. But I wonder if there's any way I can pick them off from a distance without creating too much sound?'

"What are you thinking?" Andrea came beside Michael when she noticed his expressions constantly changing.

"Hmm?" Michael looked over and smiled at her. "I'm just thinking that no one would survive if this huge herd suddenly started moving north."

"Yeah, but with this number…" Rosita walked past the two and stopped a couple of meters ahead of them. She placed her hands on her waist and slowly turned her body to them. "Could it be that Florida had already fallen?"

Michael shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not sure. We don't even have any idea how far this herd goes. We can only hope that there are still survivors out there."

'Though as far as I can remember, I don't think there was ever any mention of any survivor group in Florida in the series. Hmmm..It's making me curious what's beyond it now.'

"Though it's certain the others would have continued going south if it weren't for this herd blocking the way. There are other roads to go around them, but I doubt they'd risk their safety after seeing this." It does not take a genius to figure it out, but Rosita came to a conclusion that even considered the decision that Rick and the others had taken for them to cut their journey short.

"Let's head back. We've wasted too much time on the road." Michael said as he slowly made his way back inside a huge vehicle

"At least, we got a lot of things along the way. Especially this beast. I still couldn't believe that we actually encountered this one when we passed through that airport." Rosita lovingly caressed the huge motorhome vehicle.

Looking at her expression, Michael snorted while feeling amused at the sight.

The trio entered the motorhome through the living area. Michael left the living area and into the cockpit while the two women went their separate ways. Andrea followed Michael inside the cockpit while Rosita went to the back and inside the bedroom and took a nap.

"Hey babe, can you let me drive it next?" Like before, Andrea once again asked Michael for the chance to drive this beast of a vehicle.

"I keep telling you. I'm gonna let you drive it when we get back to camp." Michael sighed and rejected her request for the nth time.

"Hmmp!" Andrea snorted and put on her seat belt. "You better keep your word."

Vroom!

The vehicle roared to life and slowly turned back towards where they came from before speeding away like a massive tank.

A few hours earlier.

While the trio is cruising along a highway, they suddenly spotted an airport not far from them.

"Hey, do you think that place has a helicopter? It'd be a good idea if we have something that flies. Collecting resources and protecting the camp would prove much easier with a bird." Rosita thought of something and couldn't help but share her thoughts with them.

The idea of possibly owning a chopper immediately piqued Michael's interest since the time they saw that chopper flying over them the other day. He didn't even hesitate to agree to her idea. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go over and check it out."

Andrea didn't have anything to say against the idea since she also thought that it's gonna be a great haul if they really managed to get their hands on one, but there's only one thing she thinks they forgot about this sudden interest on a chopper.

"Even if there's one, do any of us even know how to fly one?"

Michael just smiled at her worries and responded. "Don't worry. I know how to fly one."

"Whoa, that's great to hear. How many flight hours did you have?" Andrea looked at Michael in a new light. She feels interested since she also had the goal of wanting to fly a chopper back in the day, maybe even a plane.

"I had a PPL and with around a hundred flight hours. I lost my license during the ordeal so don't even ask where it is." Michael said.

'Well, I'm not lying since I indeed lost my license the moment I got transported into this world. Which is still a mystery why I'm here in the first place.'

Michael suddenly sighed with some melancholy on his face. 'I miss my life back on Earth.'

'I wonder what he's thinking to make that kind of expression?' Andrea was a little bewildered since this is the first time she had seen him make that kind of face.

The trio hadn't even driven that close to the airport when something on the road ahead of them quickly got their attention.

"Whoa, that's one hell of a tank for a motorhome. That thing's at least twice the size of this car." When Rosita saw, her eyes started shining like stars. Like she had just seen the most beautiful thing in the world.

"That's the Global XRS 7200. It's the King of Motorhomes." Michael immediately recognized the vehicle since he also owned one before; 'But did this kind of vehicle already exist at this time? Or is this world ahead in some technologies compared to where I'm from? Interesting.'

"I know that. This beast cost over a million dollars." Rosita said and immediately got off from the vehicle after they stopped beside the huge motorhome.

Dang! Dang! Dang!

She ran towards the vehicle while pulling out her pistol from its holster.

She started softly banging on the door. Something she had learned after travelling with Michael.

Michael and Andrea got out of the car, but didn't show any intentions of going over to help her.

Rosita didn't mind. It wasn't her first barbecue doing something solo like this. She had already faced far more dangerous situations compared to this one at the moment.

Hearing no noise inside, Rosita still remained cautious and pressed something at the side that triggered the mechanism for the steps to come out.

Bzzzt!

She put one foot down on the steps before suddenly turning her head to look at Michael. Seeing him smile at her, she softly snorted and started to carefully ascend the steps. She stood before the door before forcefully pulling it open, and since she is not fond of any surprises. She immediately jumped backwards and onto the road with her pistol pointed towards the door.

Still seeing no movements, she started to slowly make her way inside the motorhome, and during this time, Michael finally acted and started moving after her.

Inside, it wasn't a walker that surprised her, but the things left behind inside.

"Whoa, this is a lot of supplies. Just how many supplies did they hoard in here? There's probably even more inside the compartments, right?"

Michael wasn't concerned about the supplies; he was more concerned about another matter.

"What you should be asking is, where is the owner of this vehicle?"
