Present time.
The following day, everyone within the Prison had already gotten up and were already busy with their assigned task after a short breakfast.
"Do you think we'd be done building the wall before winter?" Rubbing his arms over his jacket, Otis looked at T-Dawg who's busy swinging the axe in his hands and trying to cut down the tree in front of him.
T-Dawg paused and wiped off his sweat with a towel and turned to look at him. "Well, we've already finished a quarter of it, and we keep going at the pace we're going. Then we can probably finish it before then or with probably a day or two grace period."
"That's good, cause I can't work in the winter weather." Otis forced a small smile on his face.
T-Dawg frowned with some confusion on his face. "Shouldn't you feel a little warmer since you're fat?"
Walking over and taking the axe from T-Dawg's hands with a huff, Otis furrowed his brows. "And having a big d*ck makes you good in bed now?"
Taking a step back, T-Dawg was astounded by his words. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! What the heck man?! How are those two even related?"
Twak! Twak!
Continuing on the tree T-Dawg was working on earlier, Otis responded in between swings of his axe.
Bam!
"It's.A.Freaking…Metaphor!" Otis grunted angrily at the end of his words whilst his last swing of the axe shockingly hacked through the tree that still has a quarter of its trunk remaining!
'Whoa! This overweight guy is actually this strong?!' T-Dawg screamed inside, he was shook at what he witnessed. It wasn't just him, there were also a few others around them who were also as shocked as he was.
Meanwhile,
"Hey."
The two were silently cruising along the highway when Michael suddenly called out Andrea beside him.
"What's up?" Taking her eyes off from the window, Andrea turned her head to look at Michael.
Michael slightly tilted his head to the side and said. "I noticed yesterday, didn't Otis lose some weight?"
Andrea thought for a moment as she replayed some scenes yesterday in her head. "He did? I actually never noticed that he lost some weight though."
Michael let out a chuckle. "I guess he does not want to become a burden anymore in case another scenario where they had to make a run for it comes up. Which will certainly happen in the future if he continues to diligently lose some of that extra fat."
"Anyway, why is she coming with us? It was supposed to be only us two going out." Andrea said in annoyance while gesturing at the person sitting at the backseat with her thumb.
"Don't mind me, I'm just riding along." Rosita responded with a shrug of her shoulders.
Michael helplessly smiled and with some beads of sweat on his face. "Well, she insisted on coming with us, and you didn't say anything when you saw her."
"Hmmp!" Andrea snorted in annoyance. "What am I supposed to say? Leave her when we've already driven far away from the prison?"
Tutututud!
"What the.."
Silence immediately reigned inside the car when the rhythmic sound of something ahead of them was echoing in the distant sky and getting closer.
"It's a military chopper." Rosita stretched her head out of the window and saw a Blackhawk helicopter flying towards their direction and eventually flew past above them..
Screech!
Michael quickly stepped on the brakes and immediately got down from the car and looked towards the chopper disappearing in the distant sky.
On the other hand, Andrea just opened the car door and stood on the door sill plate with her arms leaning on the roof and door of the car.
She turned towards Michael with obvious curiosity on her face. "What do you think?"
Michael turned his head and looked up at her. "What? That there's a possibility of a military stronghold in that direction it disappeared to?"
"Yeah, it should be possible, right?" Rosita turned her head to look at him.
Michael only shook his head at them and responded. "I doubt it, and even if there was, they probably don't care about us at this point."
Andrea was thinking about her words earlier and when she heard him, it made her realize something. "He's right. If they wanted to help, there would have been radio broadcasts coming from them or flyers being scattered all over the place like coming from that chopper. So far, we haven't seen either of those two."
"Anyway, let's continue this on the road. It's no use mulling over this subject when we have more important things to do."
Immediately, Michael returned inside the car and resumed their journey.
Several miles later, Michael and the others are still quietly cruising along the highway and when they disappeared down the hill, a familiar convoy turned up from a corner that's connected to a country road. The convoy took a turn and started heading down the road that Michael and the others came from earlier.
Inside the familiar school bus, and leading the convoy.
"We're almost home."Oscar softly muttered while watching the passing scenery through the window, and his eyes lingering on the occasional abandoned cars along the road.
Stretching his body, Gareth started making some small talk with Oscar sitting across from him. "Man, I can't wait to finally sleep on a proper bed. My back's been killing me every time we go out for a supply run. What about you, man?"
Oscar shrugged his shoulders and replied. "I don't know. Maybe sleep for an entire day? I think this the most tiring supply run we've had so far since we had ventured so far from our original route."
Rolling her eyes, Mady voiced with some frustration in her tone. "Hello! Why are we talking about this? Shouldn't we be talking about that military chopper that flew past earlier?"
"And? Talking and speculating where it came from is useless. It wouldn't change our situation, and if they really wanted to help, there would have been a radio broadcast from them. Then there would be flyers thrown out from that chopper since it's impossible that none of its passengers hadn't noticed us." Gareth responded to her with nonchalance. Like many others among them, he had already lost any hope of possible support and rescue from the government.
"He's right. We're already doing well compared to a month ago. I also believe that even if there are still any government bodies out there, they probably don't care about rescuing civilians any longer. I think it's better that we just stick to ourselves, and maybe in the future, our humble prison community will even turn into its own city state." Oscar voiced, and he was quite the dreamer at the end of his words.
'A City State huh.'
Listening to the discussion at the back while driving, Daryl silently thought. He suddenly couldn't help but have some expectations for their future.
