Chapter 68 - Chapter Sixty-Eight - A Dangerous Road

Not long after, everyone retired for the night and went back inside their own quarters, leaving only Michael and Andrea by the campfire.

"So, what's really the plan? I don't believe that you'd really slaughter an entire community just for resisting us." Seeing that everyone had already gotten far away from them, Andrea immediately turned her attention to Michael. She does not believe for a fact that Michael really had it in him to slaughter innocent people, but she quite believes that it would not be too difficult for Michael to subdue whatever community Merle and Shane had joined. She had seen first hand how abnormal this person was sitting beside her.

Michael let out a soft chuckle and responded. "If our groups really come to blows, then I will immediately cripple their chain of command by taking out their leader first. I'm not some maniac that I'd do such a heinous thing like slaughtering innocent people just because we're from opposite factions. Albeit, they'd receive just punishment if one of ours was harmed."

Hearing his words certainly relieved Andrea of her worries, smiling. "That's good. I was worried that you really meant your words."

"Don't be, I know my limits." Michael smiled and wrapped his arm around her and pulled her into his embrace.

With her head resting on Michael's shoulder, she softly responded. "I was just afraid that people would become afraid of you if you went down that road. I hope that you will always remember the words you told me tonight. Always stay human, alright?"

"You worry too much." Michael smiled and slightly squeezed her closer to his body.

While staring at the fire before them, Andrea thought of something. "Right, do you have any plans tomorrow?"

"Yeah, we'll start logging trees tomorrow and use them to strengthen the walls around us since If a big wave of walkers happens to find this place, then these fragile fences would not be able to stop them and we'd be in trouble." Michael responded.

"Then following that, I'll need to start making a plan to build a distillery." Michael added.

Raising an eyebrow, Andrea pulled herself away from Michael's embrace. "What do you need a distillery for?"

"Wait, no, am I..am I right to say that the fresh water around us is already not safe to use?" She didn't wait for Michael to respond to her question since she quickly realized the implications behind Michael's words.

Michael smiled slightly, and was followed with a sigh. He started poking the fire with a stick and responded to her. "Yeah, I was actually planning on building a well at first. Unfortunately, that plan almost..almost fell through."

Rubbing his eyebrow while forcing a smile. "Today, we discovered a small lake up North where its water flows down to that stream over there near the fence."

Michael threw a pebble towards the direction of the fence they're facing while Andrea stared at him, flabbergasted.

"But..but the water we have left can only last us a week at most. If we use them sparingly, maybe 10 days, max." Quite shocked by what she just learned, Andrea stuttered in her words.

"That's why I plan to break this news to everyone tomorrow. Hopefully, Rick and the others would return then." Michael glanced at her briefly before turning away.

Picking up the water bottle beside her, Andread opened it and took a sip before briefly turning her attention back to Michael. "Don't worry, they'll be here tomorrow. They always return after me."

"Ohh good."

'Not good, what if by some miracle, Daryl managed to convince his brother to go back with them? Dang it, I don't even know how the former me acted around Merle when they got to know each other.'

Michael smiled, but deep inside, he was feeling a little anxious. It was then followed by a very dangerous thought.

'Should I go out tonight and look for them? Maybe I can go and look for Woodbury first then tie up the loose end from the last tenant of this body?'

Michael immediately shook his head to get rid of such devilish thoughts, while Andrea watched his pensive expression and him then shaking his head, she became worried. "Hey, what are you thinking? Are you okay?"

Hearing her worried voice, Michael immediately snapped out of his pensive thoughts. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just wondering if we're really capable of leading this many people under us. After all, fifty three people is vastly different from our original party of twenty something people."

Andrea smiled and went over to wrap her arms around his belly and rested her head on his shoulder. "You don't need to bear these responsibilities all on your shoulders. Aren't we all here to help you? Rick and Daryl are also doing their best looking for more supplies out there. The same goes for Glenn and his team. Maggie and the rest who are left here to manage the camp are also doing their best to make this place more secure and liveable. So, rest easy because you're not doing this alone, but with a team who shares the same goals as you."

Even though it wasn't really the thing he was concerned with, Michael weirdly felt relieved by her words.

"You're right. After all, you can't win a football game alone." Michael smiled with a chuckle.

Andrea pursed her lips and with a face full of disagreement. "Football? You mean soccer, right?"

"No, it's football. America ain't that special to be the only nation in the world to call the sport "Soccer". It's like how the Imperial System is the most complicated and inaccurate unit of system out there. How the heck does twelve inches even equals a foot? Does everyone have the same size of foot now? Whoever thought of that shit clearly wasn't of the right mind then." Michael suddenly started ranting from out nowhere, making Andrea speechless.

"You sound like you have some long held grudge against that person."

Michael snorted. "Do you know how freaking hard Math was when I was a student? That sh*t was confusing."

Andrea does not have a counter argument on that since she remembered she was also bad at Math. "Yeah, now that I think about it. How the heck do those Asian kids even excel at those?"

Shaking his head, Michael shrugged his shoulders. "Beats me. Must be some kind of compensation from God since most of them are really not that gifted down there."

The latter part of his words made Andrea chuckle and hit his chest.

Michael also laughed with her, but then he and Andrea locked eyes for a moment and all of a sudden, they started making out, which eventually led to a night of passion.

The following day, Michael woke up inside one of the watchtowers of the prison, near the decaying bridge over by the creek.

Michael smiled, feeling extremely satisfied last night. He turned his head towards the woman sleeping peacefully beside him with that gentle smile on his face.

Suddenly, one of his hands crawled under the covers and started kneading something soft and firm under.

"Uhhm..so early in the morning, and someone's already feeling horny." Awoken by Michael's perverted hand, Andrea awoke with a groan, still feeling tired from the long battle last night.

Michael didn't say anything and just shared a passionate kiss with her.

"I miss you."
