Chapter 268 - A Gamble on Luck

Unlike ordinary cultivation resources, Origin Mall's products had no diminishing effects across different realms.

Though the product descriptions never explicitly stated this, every customer knew—regardless of rank, the effects remained the same.

When Ji Wuhui and the others first discovered this, they had been shocked.

Now, after much time had passed, they had simply come to accept it as another of the store's countless mysteries.

"It seems today was the right day to visit." Ji Wuhui smiled, his tone filled with anticipation.

Old Bai chuckled. "Compared to Jade Nectar Dew, the inventory of Origin Brand Mineral Water seems much higher, and it restocks daily. Perhaps, at long last, every customer will have a fair chance to buy it."

As long as they have enough spirit crystals, Bu Lige silently added.

"Uh, Your Majesty, Elder Bai... can I go now?" Bu Lige finally couldn't help but ask.

"Go? Where are you going?" Ji Wuhui grinned. "At this point, that girl from the Bu family should be arriving soon, don't you think?"

"Just come with us to Origin Mall," Bai Lao added with a smile.

Bu Lige: "..."

He had nothing to say—because, unfortunately, they had a point.

So, with no other choice, he followed the two into the alley leading to the store.

Walking alongside these two great figures, it was impossible not to feel nervous.

So, Bu Lige did what anyone in his position would do.

He kept his mouth shut and did his best to make himself as unnoticeable as possible.

---

As they reached Origin Mall, Ji Wuhui stepped forward and greeted the shop's mysterious owner.

"Boss, I heard there's a new product in stock—Origin Brand Mineral Water?" he asked with a friendly smile.

Luo Chuan lazily opened his eyes and glanced at the trio.

He immediately felt something was off.

Since when did Bu Lige have such a good relationship with these two?

It didn't make sense.

However, Luo Chuan's expression remained as indifferent as ever.

"Hmm." He nodded.

Ji Wuhui's eyes glimmered with curiosity.

"Does its aptitude-enhancing effect work on cultivators of our level?"

Even though he had already guessed the answer, he still wanted to hear it from the boss himself.

Luo Chuan's reply was as calm as ever.

"Origin Mall's products do not discriminate between realms."

Hearing this, Ji Wuhui and Bai Lao exchanged a glance, their expressions betraying their excitement.

But just as they were about to celebrate, Luo Chuan suddenly remembered something.

"Ah, before you get ahead of yourselves," he added, his voice casual but firm.

Both men immediately tensed.

For some reason, they felt a sudden sense of foreboding.

Even Bu Lige, who had been doing his best to act invisible, found himself intrigued.

He perked up, ears focused.

Luo Chuan looked at them and spoke in an even tone.

"The effect of mineral water on aptitude varies from person to person," he said. "Each individual's improvement is different."

Bu Lige blinked.

"So… it's based on luck?" he asked.

Luck?

Luo Chuan recalled how both he and Yao Ziyan had tested the mineral water the previous night.

And now, a strange melancholy filled his heart.

Because, if luck really determined the effect…

What if the store clerk's luck was thousands of times better than the boss's?

What then?

Despite his inner turmoil, Luo Chuan's expression remained unchanged.

"You could say that." His voice was flat, yet profound.

To phrase it as luck was simply a polite way of putting it.

To be more blunt, it all came down to fate.

If someone was lucky, their aptitude could skyrocket.

If not?

Well, they would still improve—but by how much…

That was another question entirely.

---

Hearing this, Ji Wuhui sighed in relief.

Then, he suddenly grinned.

"In that case, I think my luck is pretty good," he said confidently.

"Just the other day, while playing the Tower of Trials in casual mode, I completed two random missions and was rewarded with both a Rare and an Epic skill!"

As the Emperor of the Heavenly Star, Ji Wuhui naturally had no shortage of martial techniques.

But even he couldn't help but feel pleased at his good fortune.

And if this mineral water truly depended on luck…

Then perhaps—just perhaps—he would become even stronger.
