Aurora James - POV
"Fine," he said reluctantly, though I could see the protective glint in his eyes. He looked around the kitchen, his gaze lingering on the shadows that danced along the walls, before grabbing a coat and draping it around my shoulders. The fabric felt warm against my skin, a small comfort in the cool night air that awaited us.
"Aren't you going to grab a coat? It's freezing outside," I asked, concern edging my voice.
"I can survive, darling," he replied with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. I shook my head, a mix of admiration and worry swirling within me. He was only wearing a pair of boxers, and while I secretly enjoyed the sight, my concern for his health overshadowed my desire. I knew he wouldn't listen to me, so together we stepped outside, the cool night air wrapping around us like a shroud, amplifying the tension that lingered in the atmosphere.
