Emily followed Callan. "I said I'm sorry," she said again.
When he still didn't respond, she sighed. "You said we should fix it before leaving," she reminded him.
He stopped walking and faced her. "We fixed it," he said. "I said what I had to say. Now I don't have anything else to say to you."
She looked at him. "I just… I felt… I don't know, I just felt some kind of way when I saw you both standing there together and she was laughing like you were saying something funny."
"And in your head you decided that Callan the playboy was on the move again."
She winced but didn't deny it.
He exhaled. "I respect you, Emily Williams," he said. "And I respect why we have and what we are trying to build. I won't mess it up. You have my word."
"I'm sorry," she said again, reminding herself of what Stefan had told her the last time. "I'll do better."
"And you could have just told her we're together instead of acting cool," he pointed out.
