With that, Emily stood up.
Her chair made a faint scraping sound against the floor, but she did not care.
Her hand reached for the door, ready to leave behind the man who had caused her so much pain.
For Emily, the conversation was over. She had said what she needed to say, and there was no reason to stay another second.
George opened his mouth, ready to spit out more words, perhaps to beg or insult her again, but before he could, Aurora's voice rang out, sharp and clear.
"I want to talk."
The words made the entire room still for a moment.
Emily froze with her hand on the door handle and turned slightly.
Confusion flickered in her eyes.
Aurora blinked at Emily, a small signal in her gaze that told her to leave.
Emily hesitated, staring at Aurora's determined gaze. She gave up.
'Maybe she has some plan.'
After a few moments of silence, Emily gave a small nod.
Aurora calmly walked over and sat down on the chair Emily had just left.
