A magic enhanced blade bounced off Dominic's [Area Barrier] as he blasted his way through the third of the Nobles.
He had to find the mage, but he didn't sense one among the group. Just Nobles and undead.
But there were portals. There had to be mages.
As Dominic moved to target the Nobles, the Undead surged, cutting him off from Dave, while magic surged in the barrier.
Dammit.
He knew what they were after now. This was a suicide run.
They hadn't realized that the Second Prince was no longer in the secured area inside the barrier, so they were doing all that they could to set off the trap before he could recover.
That was why there were no mages here. The ones who had passed through the portals were nothing more than bait. They were trapping everyone inside the barrier, keeping them away from the portals.
How they knew that Alex was exhausted and unable to fight back was a matter that would need to be investigated.
