"Yah know wah's crazy?" Ethan mumbled, his mouth still stuffed with the last bits of ice cream filling. He swallowed before continuing, "how in the world does yuh mother allow ya to buy the most expensive ice cream fi di market, almost fai every day?"

"I mean mi get she's rich but 16 dollars!, come on you also got to admit, Dats outrageous",

"I guess," Ken replied, licking his ice cream cone casually. "I usually save a lot of my spending money. It's gotten to the point where I've saved so much, it's hard to find anything worth buying." Ethan stared at him, as if processing the idea, while Ken added, "So, what better way to spend it than on ice cream?"

"Makes sense," Ethan said with a nod, and they continued walking. But before they could get far, they noticed Mei had stopped dead in her tracks. Her face was tilted toward the ground, her body motionless, still clutching her ice cream. She looked… off.

"Yuh good?" Ethan asked, concern creeping into his voice. Mei's head snapped up, her eyes locking onto Ken's. For some reason, Ken felt a weird pang of discomfort. Her gaze intensified, and a wide, mischievous smile spread across her face.

"I can help you," she whispered, just loud enough for them to hear.

"Huh?" Ethan and Ken said in unison, utterly confused.

"The money," she clarified, her voice brimming with excitement. "I can help you spend it."

Instant regret flooded Ken's mind. He knew he shouldn't have mentioned his spending troubles. Mei's grin only grew wider.

"Hehehe!" Mei stepped closer, looping her arms through both Ken's and Ethan's, pulling them along in one decisive direction. The boys sighed in protest, already knowing where she was dragging them—a place too close to Mei's heart, a place irreplaceable: 'the junkyard'.

___[ELSEWHERE]

Kaina Tsutsumi sat in the quiet embrace of a towering glass skyscraper, the world below bustling with life. From her perch, she sipped her wine, its color as clear as water. The taste danced across her taste buds, its texture smooth against her lips—delightful.

Yet, even in its luxurious embrace, the wine amplified a feeling known only to those fortunate enough to afford such solitude: loneliness.

Kaina picked up her phone, hesitant. She wasn't sure why, but the thought of what she was about to do felt like too much trouble. Still, the silent voice of loneliness pushed her to the edge, urging her to make the call.

Scrolling through her contacts, she found it. The name was unfamiliar, almost unsettling: [Mirror]

. Its profile picture was a portrait by L'Ange Déchu, a portrait commonly known as 'The Fallen Angel' or 'The Reflection of Lucifer'. But this version was different. The figure's frame and body were torn to shreds, with only the eyes visible—eyes that seemed to stare back at whoever gazed upon them.

She hesitated again. Was it the picture? Or the sudden memory of how much it resembled him?

RING! RING!

She made her choice, heart pounding as she waited for the other line to pick up—the side she had once escaped but now reached for, driven by the memories it stirred.

___[ELSEWHERE]

BRRRRR!

Ken's phone buzzed, interrupting his stride. His hands were full—one holding an ice cream cone, the other a heavy bag stuffed with components Mei had gleefully purchased with what she called his "unending monies."

"Hold this for a sec," he said, passing the bag to Mei. But before handing over his ice cream, he fixed her with a stern look. "Don't eat it."

Mei's eyes widened, her head tilted and her expression feigning confusion, but Ken wasn't fooled. He knew she was pretending. When he started to pull the cone back, her facade cracked, and she erupted into loud giggles. "Don't you trust me?" she asked, batting her eyes in mock innocence. Ethan, standing beside her, shook his head wildly, silently begging Ken not to do it.

But Ken had to answer the call. With no other choice, he handed her the ice cream. Mei's eyes sparkled with mischief, confirming his worst fears.

He answered the phone. "Hello?"

[{Hello, may I speak to Tsutsumi Kaneki Ken?}]

"Speaking," Ken replied promptly.

[{Oh, hello! This is from UA High School of Excellence. Since you placed first in the entrance exam and broke five major records, you're required to come to school the day before its official opening…}]

The conversation stretched on for minutes, covering details about an interview and other essentials. When the call finally ended, Ken turned to find Mei holding out his ice cream, her hand extended innocently.

Of course, he noticed the cone was half-eaten, and her mouth was smeared with evidence. Ken didn't bother asking—he knew her response would just be a string of giggles.

But before he could pocket his phone, it rang again, startling him. Few people had his number, and two of them were standing right beside him. Curious, he answered, speaking briefly. A soft, visible smile spread across his face as he hung up and turned to Ethan and Mei.

"So… are you guys afraid of heights?"
