Chapter 926 - Poisoning incident?

As Filimon Turner and his two sons finally managed to reel in the fish, Jiang Hai also took a look.

It had to be admitted, the father and sons had good luck. Filimon caught a barracuda, the kind Jiang Hai had introduced, called a sea wolf, while John Turner and Louis Turner both caught a red snapper, just like Jiang Hai.

If nothing unexpected happened, it was highly likely that a group of barracudas were chasing red snappers below the surface of the sea.

There was no other way; although red snappers were wider than barracudas, they were far less aggressive.

Barracudas, also known as sea wolves, weren't called that for nothing; they even dared to hunt injured sharks and other creatures, showing extreme ferocity.

Once caught, it had to be killed immediately, otherwise, it would bite anything it saw, making it easy for people to get injured.

With these three fish, the Filimon father and sons had made a catch. After Jiang Hai fired sixty rounds here, he shouldered his gun and prepared to return, of course, also pulling up the lines they had set on the way back.

The lampreys here were not numerous, but certainly not few. Moreover, they used the entrails of beef cattle from Jiang Hai's estate as bait. If the iron traps hadn't been too small, even large fish would have been caught.

Although the traps had been set for less than an hour, when they were pulled up, two-thirds of them had caught something. Jiang Hai and his group had set a total of thirty, and they hadn't been left for too long, yet twenty had caught something. This was indeed a very rich resource!

They picked out the mature ones, those over half a meter long, and released the smaller ones.

There were still twelve left. Jiang Hai gave three to the Filimon family, and he took the remaining nine home. As for the red snapper, he also gave it to Filimon. Jiang Hai's family certainly didn't lack fish; his main goal in coming here was to shoot his gun and incidentally catch some lampreys. After returning, seeing these live lampreys, Qi Ya seemed very happy and immediately took them to the kitchen to clean.

The others were also helping to clean up the leftovers from last night.

Doing anything together as a family was actually quite enjoyable, at least for Jiang Hai.

In the afternoon, Jiang Hai and his group sat together watching TV. American TV channels, due to competition, were not like those in China, which were mostly within the system, and competition was also within the system. To put it another way:

For example, if a country is a school, the competition in the US is like class-versus-class competition. Class 1 and Class 2 compete to attract people, so they strive to produce better programs. In China, competition is like intra-class competition. The class monitor is the central TV station, which is undisputed. Other school committee members, sports committee members, group leaders, and class representatives have to compete, but because they are all from the same class, there's a bottom line to the competition.

In the US, however, you can do anything except illegal activities, including slandering opponents or even fighting.

It can be said that the competition in the US is much, much fiercer than in China, and precisely because of this intensity, American TV stations compete to perform: if you release a TV series, I must release a better one.

If you produce a variety show, I must produce one too. Without competition, there is no progress, and the competition in the US is clearly very intense.

But to be honest, the fiercest competition was in a country Jiang Hai had visited: South Korea.

In such a small place, three TV stations are fiercely competing for viewers, it's not an exaggeration to say they have a grudge!

In fact, apart from a few special celebrities, others are not allowed to talk about programs from other stations on certain TV channels.

While the situation in the US isn't quite that extreme, it's not much better. You often see hosts from different channels slandering each other's stations, but for viewers, this is something they enjoy.

Jiang Hai also enjoyed watching them bicker. After an early dinner in the evening, Jiang Hai and his group weren't Christians, so there was no need to dwell too much on these things. They went to bed early, but due to yesterday's frenzy, they were much quieter today, leaving Jiang Hai to Lelith Carter, Beriak, Valena, and Aller Sara, who had just returned today. Jiang Hai also had a good night's sleep with them, but early the next morning, before dawn, Jiang Hai was woken up by the phone ringing. He groggily picked up the phone and saw that it was Mayor Wallis. On this big carnival night, why wasn't he resting at home? Why was he calling so early? He glanced at the time; it was only a little past five in the morning.

"Hello, Mayor, is something wrong?" Patting the several girls beside him who had also woken up from the phone ringing, Jiang Hai walked into the bathroom, turning on the water as he asked Mayor Wallis. Since he was up, he might as well pee first!

"Oh, I know you weren't up yet. Something's happened. Please come to the town hospital quickly!" Hearing Jiang Hai's groggy voice, Mayor Wallis sighed, then said somewhat helplessly.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Hearing his words, Jiang Hai asked him with some confusion. What did he mean by that?

"Last night, because it was Christmas, many tourists stayed in our townspeople's homes. The food might have been a bit off. Many were sent to the hospital last night, and even more came today. If you have time, please come and take a look." Listening to Mayor Wallis's urgent words on the phone, Jiang Hai also woke up a bit from his sleep.

"Hospitalized? Then I'll go take a look." After thinking for a moment, Jiang Hai decided to go and see what was going on. Was it poisoning, or something else? He needed to know. But if it was poisoning, then only one or two people should have been poisoned. How could so many people be poisoned? What the hell was this?

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Hai hung up the phone, returned to the room, and after saying a word to the girls, he put on his clothes and went downstairs. At this time, the estate and the villa were still pitch black. When Jiang Hai went downstairs, only Little Yellow and Little White heard Jiang Hai's footsteps and looked up at him; Bucktooth didn't react at all.

After Jiang Hai motioned for them to continue sleeping, they lay down and continued to sleep. Jiang Hai left the villa and drove to the town hospital. Because of the development of tourism, the town's hospital had also been renovated.

Before this, the town hospital was actually just a small clinic. Winthrop was about an hour's drive from Boston, so if they had a serious illness, they could go to Boston.

But ever since Winthrop became a tourist attraction, the supporting facilities had to be improved, and the hospital was no exception.

So, after Jiang Hai and the Winthrop town government discussed it, the hospital was expanded. Now, although this hospital cannot be compared to a Class A tertiary hospital in China, it is definitely no worse than a general municipal hospital.

And the doctors and nurses inside, their skills and so on, are considered top-notch in China, after all, the foundation is there.

After the hospital was expanded, both tourists and local residents received much more assurance.

However, nothing like today had ever happened before: batches of tourists being hospitalized. To put it mildly, this would deal a blow to Winthrop's tourism industry; to put it more seriously, it could even lead to disputes between two countries, causing diplomatic trouble.

Thinking of this, Jiang Hai couldn't help but slap his forehead. What a hassle.

Jiang Hai's Warshield sped along, and about half an hour after leaving home, he arrived at Winthrop Hospital.

However, as soon as he walked in, he found that the situation here could indeed be described as tense. Almost all the patient rooms in the hospital were occupied, and there were also many patients in the corridors. The patients were vomiting and having diarrhea, which couldn't be faked, meaning they were truly poisoned. Many of the tourists who were not poisoned were gathered around the hospital; they were either scared or were relatives of the patients, waiting for someone to give them an explanation. Perhaps fearing that these tourists would cause trouble.

So, Winthrop Hospital had specifically called the police, and with the police's arrival, the atmosphere between the two sides became even more intense.

The two sides were in a standoff, and the patients were vomiting and having diarrhea, making the whole scene extremely chaotic. When Jiang Hai's car stopped, almost everyone's eyes turned to Jiang Hai. Seeing Jiang Hai get out, many tourists rushed over.

"We came here to play, but this happened. What do you say we do!"

"I knew these Americans couldn't have good intentions. They must have collectively poisoned us!"

"Jiang Hai, I heard you were the one who spearheaded this, you must give us an explanation!"

"Harming your own countrymen, you fake foreign devil, do you have no shame!" As these people surrounded him, many of them aimed their fire at Jiang Hai. They knew that Jiang Hai was the one who facilitated their trip to America. Now, seeing Jiang Hai arrive, their faces darkened, and they loudly cursed at Jiang Hai. Many also pulled out their phones, recording the conflict. Jiang Hai didn't know if anyone was livestreaming, but hearing their words, Jiang Hai's expression was not good.

"No one held a knife to your throat to make you come here. Whether you spend money or eat food here, I frankly don't care. I'm just here out of humanitarian spirit to see what's going on. Whether you live or die here has nothing to do with me. Now, get out of my way, I'm going in!" Jiang Hai didn't care if someone was livestreaming or recording; he directly pointed at those who had spoken rudely and cursed at them. Hearing Jiang Hai's words, the tourists here were almost driven mad.

At a time like this, Jiang Hai still dared to say such things to provoke them. Jiang Hai must be crazy! (To be continued.)
