Chapter 106 - Right on schedule

Nasya's POV

Ah, his demeanor just reminded me of my true worth—he would marry any woman of value, and even if I were truly chosen now, it wouldn't be out of love, but for the value I possess.

 

"What are you staring at my face for?" Zayn dismissed Elijah with a cold snort and stood up.

 

I turned my head away without responding. The only sounds were the twist of the doorknob and the soft click of the door closing.

 

Zayn was gone. The suffocating pressure in the suite dissipated with him.

 

Suddenly, I exhaled deeply, as if all the bones in my body had been pulled out. My back, which had been unconsciously stiffened in a defensive posture, slumped instantly, and I nearly collapsed onto the cold velvet sofa.

 

Finally, the appointed time arrived. Almost to the second, there came a restrained, rhythmic knock at the door.
