Lucian's gaze held hers, steady and calm. "So what do you want?"
Selis froze for a heartbeat. She hadn't expected him to cave that easily.
Usually, getting Lucian to agree to anything required an argument, a bribe, and sometimes mild blackmail.
Her surprise melted into a slow, wicked grin. "T-then . . ." she purred, leaning forward across the table until only a breath separated them.
Her fingers trailed down the edge of his coat before slipping lower, brushing against the leather of his belt. "How about . . . an early boost of energy? Hmm? I'll need some essence to keep me going today."
Lucian's brows twitched ever so slightly. "What are you," he asked, voice low, "a succubus?"
She giggled softly, the sound both playful and undeniably suggestive. "Maybe."
