The past two weeks had passed far more slowly than Ella would have liked. Although Carlton had cleared her for discharge four days ago, Alexander had stubbornly refused to let her leave.
"You're still in pain whenever you move," he had said after catching the tiny frown she failed to hide while trying to sit up. That one tiny frown had been enough.
Carlton sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Alexander, a little discomfort is normal. She's been lying in bed for days. It doesn't mean she's unwell." Carlton explained.
"It sure does means she's still hurting." Alexander countered.
Ella offered Alexander a smile. "I'm really okay," she tried to convince him. But Alexander had simply looked at her before turning to Carlton.
"She's staying." Carlton had merely shrugged, clearly unwilling to argue with him.
"Alex," she protested.
