Chapter 72 - The Devil You Don’t Know"

Draven stared at his mother, her expectant smile patiently waiting for his answer.

Should I just tell her I haven't thought of a name yet? he wondered. Hmm, no. I guess I can think of one. I mean, how hard can it be?

He began mentally sifting through names.

I could just pick something I've heard before—James, Jeffrey, Bally, John. There are so many to choose from. But which one? Michael? Leo? Logan?

He paused.

Hmm… what about Lucas? Or maybe… Lucy?

He frowned.

Nahhh, that's a girl's name. But I kind of like it, though. It sounds... nice.

He hesitated.

Should I just go with Lucy? I mean, it's a nice name. Or… Le… Le… Levi? Yeah, that's it. Levi! It sounds good, and it's a guy's name.

But then another thought crept in.

Wait, what does Levi even mean? Life? Living?

He sighed.

F**k it. Who the hell cares what it means anyway? I could just make something up. Although… There's a chance they may actually know the name Levi and its meaning.

"Honey, so what is it?" his mother asked, snapping him out of his spiraling thoughts.

God f**king dammit! Draven swore internally, his mind racing. I didn't think this would be so hard! There's got to be at least one name I know the meaning of...

Suddenly, his eyes widened. Got it!

"Lucifer!" he blurted out, the name rolling off his tongue with unexpected confidence.

Kaelen raised an eyebrow. "Lucifer?"

"Yes," Draven said, a triumphant grin spreading across his face. "Lucifer. It means Morning Star."

"Lucifer... the Morning Star," Elliana echoed softly, a warm smile forming on her lips. "It's a beautiful name. I really like it."

Exactly as I thought! Draven beamed inwardly. They don't know about the devil. I've read dozens of books in the library—not a single mention of Satan or hell. So, I figured the name Lucifer doesn't mean anything bad here. It was a gamble, but I was damn fucking right!

"Lucifer Vladimir," Kaelen repeated thoughtfully, a rare, pleased smile on his face. "I like it." He turned to Draven. "Brat, I guess you're not bad at coming up with names."

Sure, naming my little brother after the devil might seem kind of messed up, Draven thought, still grinning. But if the devil never existed, then it doesn't matter. He's not named after anything. He's just Lucifer—and damn, that name is cool as hell. I wish my name was Lucifer.
