"War is much too easy to start, but ending it is never a simple endeavor."

The sun rose over Pentos, spreading its golden light to every corner of the city. The night was filled with death and screams of fear, and by morning, the once proud city that stood as a beacon of wealth and trade was now a city with blood-soaked streets and air with the lingering scent of smoke and burnt flesh.

The resistance was more than Aegon had expected, but things had come to an end, and as expected, he had gotten what he wanted.

The slaughter was now over.

Aegon wasn't a kind man; all the magisters were hunted down one by one by Aegon's bloodriders and scouts. Their palaces sacked, their bodies burned by dragon fire, even their wives and children were not spared from death; the most he did was give them a quick death.

Even though the possibility of one of these women or children ever being able to amass the power to go against him in the name of revenge was very low, Aegon adhered to the ways of cutting out the roots, leaving no chance at all.

Aegon now stood on the city walls, his purple eyes surveying the horizon. The sea was steaming, filled with wreckage from the fleet Igneel had destroyed, and the harbor was filled with the smoldering husk of ships.

"This is going to take some time to fix and get back into working order, but by the time I'm ready for it, everything should be fixed." Aegon said to himself.

Beside stood Baqo, his most trusted bloodrider.

"Khal Aegon, the city is yours. All the magisters are dead."

"I know, our first stronghold in Essos, from here we will set our sights on the other free cities before turning to Westeros. Spread the word, Pentos belongs to the Targaryen family. Everyone is welcome, but those who defy me will burn."

Baqo grinned a savage smile and slammed his fist to his chest.

"It shall be done."

Days passed, and soon a whole week had gone by.

Aegon moved swiftly. For the first time since his reincarnation, he had an abundance of money. He had posted an announcement for workers to clean up the harbor and the city, as well as to rebuild the damaged city gate and buildings.

The gold, silver, and food taken from the dead magisters were now in his possession; with it, he offered way higher wages for the jobs he needed done and distributed food to the people of the city, trying to ease the tense and fearful state of mind they had, trying to get the city back to normal operation as soon as possible.

Dothraki patrols kept the city in order, even though the people couldn't even look at them without trembling. Things were getting better as Aegon was dealing with things well, and the people started to have new hope for the future.

Aegon used a room in his new palace as a council chamber; they had no real power, their role was to oversee the markets and the rebuilding of the harbor, and give daily updates to Aegon. They were chosen as they were the most knowledgeable in their fields in the city, as Aegon found out when posting his job offers.

Of course, like everyone in the city, they were afraid, unsure if this was some kind of trap, but as they saw the three dragons outside the city, they realized a trap was not necessary to get rid of them.

In the first meeting, they had with Aegon, they all still remember the first thing he said to them.

"I will not rule a useless, failing city. You will tell me what the city needs to the best of our ability, and I will decide on it, lie to me, and dragon fire will find you wherever you go, tell the truth, and Pentos will flourish."

And they listened.

As Aegon was having his daily meeting, elsewhere in the palace, Daenerys was seated under a tall window, sunlight spilled over her silver hair as she rocked Maegor in her arms.

The child had been restless throughout all the killing and bloodshed that had happened, as if his young mind could sense the tension in the city, but as things mellowed out, so did Maegor.

Daenerys looked at the small boy in her arms and had to admit she had grown very attached to him in the short time she had known him.

She no longer flinched under his weight in her arms, her mind no longer drifted to the problems that may arise in the future if she had a son of her own with Aegon, because she was starting to accept the boy as her own.

Across the chamber, Balerion, the newly hatched dragon, watched them for a while before he crawled to her and rested his head on her feet.

Looking at the boy and dragon, she couldn't help but notice how quickly things had changed thanks to Aegon's arrival.

She spent her life hiding and being used as a bargaining chip for her brother. For the first time, she had something of her own. A dragon, a son, and perhaps soon a kingdom.

As the sun dipped low, Aegon finally returned, with the two hatchlings following him closely.

As he entered the room, he found Daenerys with Maegor asleep against her chest and Balerion curled protectively around them.

For a moment, he said nothing, just stood silently and observed.

Daenerys looked up.

"How was your meeting?"

"It was fine, things are on track." Aegon answered.

"Are you sure? Something seems to be on your mind."

"Haha, am I so easy to read now? How long has it been, and you can already read me so easily."

Daenerys smiled.

"I'm not powerful enough to read the blood dragon; you just weren't trying to hide it." She said her voice was filled with sarcasm and joking.

Hearing the name Aegon raised his eyebrow in surprise. "Blood dragon, when did I get that name?"
