Sylphie remained lying on Kael for a while longer, listening to the rhythm of his heart with satisfied silence. The magic that had allowed them to hear the distant voices had already faded, taking Yggdrasil's drunken complaints with it and leaving behind only the quiet sound of the house, the rustle of the vines, and the intimate warmth of the two of them beneath the sheets.
