"Why don't you tell him, Kael? Who pulled the second trigger on Sebastian Locke… and whose gun the bullet came from?"

The words sliced through the room like a blade, sharp and slow.

That smile on Caspian's face, wide, crooked, too calm, made my stomach churn.

He looked like a god toying with mortals, drunk on power, basking in the chaos.

"What do you mean?! I was there! I heard the gunshots— I…" Kain's voice broke like glass, and he fought harder against the hands holding him with raw panic in his eyes.

Caspian's laugh slithered through the room like poison.

"Of course you were there," he said smoothly. "How could I forget? That little boy in the wardrobe… shaking like a leaf. Eyes so wide they looked like they'd fall out of your skull. Red. Swollen. You were crying so loud I almost felt sorry for you."
