Chapter 47: A City Hidden in Plain Sight
"Cloaking device activated and in use," Cream Puff announced, its voice carrying across the chamber.
The holographic map expanded, washing the room in pale light. A shimmer rippled across the projection, rolling outward until the land blurred and reformed into a perfect illusion of untouched wilderness. The fortress outline winked out of existence.
Ava felt her shoulders ease as if someone had lifted a weight off her chest. "So… we're officially invisible."
"Undetectable," Cream Puff corrected, glow brightening slightly. "No drone, satellite, or scout will recognize changes here. To the outside world, nothing exists."
Zephyr leaned forward, trying to squint through the projection as if sheer willpower might reveal the hidden base. "Creepy. Definitely creepy. But also kinda awesome."
Kael gave him a look so flat it could crush rock. "Would you prefer attention instead?"
Zephyr raised both hands. "Nope. Creepy it is. Long live creepy."
