Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Chapter 10 Exceptional Learning Ability

Tanako Hon looked at her mother and said, "That's why I said he's very mysterious. Before the teams were assigned, I didn't even know he existed, and no one noticed him either."

Mina Senju asked, "You said he's very strong. How could you tell?"

Though she wasn't a ninja, she was still someone from the Senju Clan, and Mina Senju could still make judgments based on certain information.

Tanako Hon thought about today's assessment.

Then she said, "After the teams were assigned today, our instructor gave us an assessment."

"It was a kind of Mental Ninjutsu. Juki and I almost couldn't endure it. Our minds were nearly breaking down."

"But Yoruha seemed almost completely unaffected. After the test ended, our instructor said that the Mental Ninjutsu he used had mainly been focused on Yoruha. What Juki and I felt was only the aftershock of it."

"Even so, Yoruha still didn't seem to feel any pressure at all."

"Even our instructor was shocked."

"And when we told Asuma-sensei about it, he also thought it was unbelievable."

...

As she listened to her daughter's account, Mina Senju's brows drew tighter and tighter.

This was no small matter.

"From what you're saying, that child really does possess mental strength far beyond ordinary people."

"You have to understand, your teacher is a Jonin who came out of the Anbu. Ninjas who come from the Anbu all have very strong mental strength, yet even he couldn't make that child feel pressured."

"That can only mean that child has mental strength far beyond normal. And people with that kind of mental power often have extremely precise control over Chakra, perhaps even an enormous amount of Chakra as well."

At that thought, Mina Senju's gaze sharpened.

"This is something extremely significant."

Though Mina Senju was not a ninja, she had mastered a great deal of the Senju Clan's records and understood ninja arts very well.

On top of that, members of the Senju Clan all possessed very large Chakra reserves, so she understood very clearly that when a person had powerful mental strength, both their Chakra quantity and their control over Chakra would usually be strong.

Because resisting Mental Ninjutsu cast by an Anbu Jonin required not only extremely precise Chakra control, but also vast Chakra reserves to sustain the expenditure.

Otherwise, one would end up like Sakura: even if her Chakra control was precise, once the other side's Chakra surpassed her own, she would be unable to resist when placed under Genjutsu.

"Someone with extremely precise Chakra control and enormous Chakra reserves—how could such a person remain obscure for six years, without even much presence at all?"

"That's too strange."

"And he's just a child, yet he managed to hide it for six years without exposing himself."

"This child's way of thinking is a bit abnormal."

Tanako Hon, who had previously only been somewhat curious about Yoruha, now found it unbelievable as well after hearing her mother's analysis.

Looking at her, she asked, "Mom, so does that mean Yoruha really is very powerful?"

Mina Senju looked at her daughter and said seriously, "We still can't be sure, but as long as nothing unexpected happens, his future should be anything but ordinary."

"Because even the most outstanding ninja graduates do not possess the ability to withstand an Anbu Jonin's Mental Ninjutsu and remain calm and composed."

"Tanako, it seems that child really is very mysterious. Before you understand his background, it would be better for you to keep some distance from him."

Although Tanako Hon was unwilling, she also knew her mother was doing it for her own good.

And after hearing Mina Senju's analysis, she too felt that Yoruha's strength had gone beyond what she could understand.

No matter how much she liked Yoruha, for now she still had to listen to her mother.

Yoruha, meanwhile, had no idea that because of today's assessment, Mina Senju and her daughter had begun putting some distance between themselves and him.

But even if he knew, he wouldn't care.

He had already been mentally prepared the moment he revealed a little of his strength in today's test.

After returning home, Yoruha did not refine Chakra before bed as he usually did.

Instead, he lay directly on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

His consciousness had already entered his mindscape.

"You have idled for one day. Chakra has doubled. Physical fitness has doubled."

"You have obtained Exceptional Learning Ability. As long as your body and Chakra are sufficient, you can learn any ninjutsu at the speed of the greatest geniuses in the current world."

Yoruha suddenly felt a wave of tingling spread through his body, so pleasant that he almost cried out.

His mind also became far clearer than before.

It was as though all the ninjutsu knowledge that had once confused him was now not only crystal clear in his memory, but fully understood.

It seemed that as long as someone taught him a ninjutsu, he could, like Itachi, learn it after seeing a demonstration just once.

Coming out of the mindscape,

Yoruha stared at the ceiling in shock.

Closing his eyes, he felt his whole body brimming with Chakra. Dense enough to almost take form, it coursed through the pathways in his body.

The sensation was unbelievably intense.

"My Chakra has doubled. My Chakra reserves should be at the level of an Elite Jonin now, right?"

"My physical fitness should probably have reached the level of a taijutsu Chunin."

This increase in power was already extremely terrifying.

One had to know that very few ninja specialized in taijutsu.

Among taijutsu ninja, reaching the level of a taijutsu Chunin was already something only a very small number could achieve.

"Too bad I still don't know any ninjutsu. That's a little awkward."

Thinking about how he only knew the Academy Three Basic Techniques, Yoruha felt that in real combat he probably wouldn't even be as good as a Chunin.

At that moment, Yoruha was desperate to obtain a ninjutsu with real combat value.

After all, what he had gained was the Idle System. He would definitely have to learn something first before he could idle it.

If he hadn't learned it, there was nothing to idle in the first place.

At present, the only things he was truly proficient in were the Academy Three Basic Techniques.

But in actual combat, trying to survive on the Academy Three Basic Techniques alone would be difficult enough.

Not to mention that ninja were, by trade, specialized killers.

They would use every despicable, vile, shameless method imaginable.

Trying to deal with professional ninja while knowing only the Academy Three Basic Techniques was simply courting death.

Yoruha was not arrogant enough to think he was already strong enough to challenge Jonin.

He wasn't even confident he could beat a Chunin.

"But tonight's gains are already very good. With Exceptional Learning Ability, I should be able to learn some basic ninjutsu just by watching them once, right?"

"Tomorrow, after the mission, I'll go to the training grounds and see if anyone is practicing ninjutsu."

"At the very least, I need to learn some basic offensive ninjutsu as combat methods. I don't want to become a taijutsu ninja."

Though the Eight Gates were very strong,

setting aside whether Yoruha would even have a chance to learn them, even if he did, he still wouldn't want to.

The consequences of the Eight Gates were too terrifying. He had no desire to learn it.

Besides, it was Guy's ultimate technique. He would not teach it to just anyone.

The only people who had learned the Eight Gates were Guy, Kakashi, and Rock Lee.

Kakashi was Guy's closest friend, and Rock Lee was Guy's direct disciple. What was Yoruha?

Of course, Yoruha had never planned to learn it anyway.
