It was evident now—the Tree of Beginning, a primordial force of the world itself, had harnessed solar energy and various elemental sources to convert them into life force. With ease, it restored the stamina of the Pokémon present.
"Raaaaa…"
Torterra let out a low rumble, its eyes flashing with astonishment.
As a Pokémon that had mastered Forest's Healing, it could perform a similar restoration technique. But what the Tree of Beginning had just done—fully healing Pokémon instantly and effortlessly—was on an entirely different level, something no ordinary move could replicate.
"Re…gi…!"
"Re…gi…!"
"Re…gi…!"
"Re…gi…!"
"Re…gi…!"
The five Regi Pokémon—Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, and Regidrago—now fully recovered, stood upright once more. The glowing dots on their faces pulsed red in unison as they turned to face Paul and his Pokémon, immediately unleashing a flurry of attacks.
But faster than any of them—were Electivire and Torterra.
"Frenzy Plant!"
"Thunder!"
"Raaa!"
At Paul's command, jagged spikes of hardened plants erupted violently from the ground. Torterra's Frenzy Plant tore through the battlefield, launching the five Regis backward as they were struck with devastating force.
"Vireee!"
Next came a roaring explosion of golden electricity as Electivire's Thunder rained down from the sky. Bolts of lightning hammered down on the Regis, engulfing them in a relentless electrical assault.
Both Torterra and Electivire had already maxed out their stats through move-based boosts. At this moment, their combined power far surpassed that of even Elite-tier Legendary Pokémon.
With both signature moves hitting back-to-back—and Thunder continuing to strike relentlessly—the five Regis were overwhelmed and once again fell to the ground.
Moments later, five new globes of light descended from the sky and enveloped the fallen Regis, restoring them once more.
But again, Frenzy Plant and Thunder hit in rapid succession and once again, the Regis were taken down.
This repeated yet again—three full cycles of resurrection followed by defeat—until finally, the Tree of Beginning stopped wasting energy. It realized reviving the fallen was fruitless and switched to a more defensive strategy.
"Re…gi…"
"…ice…"
"…steel…"
"..."
Suddenly, a calm chorus of mechanical tones echoed across the mountain path. From the cliffs flanking both sides, more Regi Pokémon began to emerge—one after another.
In the sky, streaks of crimson and golden energy converged. From them emerged Regieleki, Regidrago, and other variant Regis, eyes locked on Paul and his team like hunters watching their prey.
The mountain path beneath them cracked and split, and once again, Regirock rose to the surface—standing directly in front of Paul's group.
All counted, there were at least 20 of them in total.
What does it feel like to be stared down by over twenty Elite-class Legendary Pokémon?
The sheer pressure warped the air around them. Even breathing felt heavier. Paul and his Pokémon could feel their hearts pounding violently, their bodies stiff under the crushing presence of so many titans.
"Vireee~!"
Damn it, this many?! Who could handle that?!
Even Electivire was starting to lose its composure at the sudden swarm of Regi Pokémon.
Its battle state was fully primed, sure—but even at peak condition, it could at most take down five or six of these half-awake relics at once.
Almost instinctively, Electivire cast a sharp, serious glance at Paul, its gaze loaded with one clear message—
Too hot—time to bolt, boss. Tactical retreat. I'll clear the path.
"Retreat. Electivire, Ninetales—cover our exit!"
Seeing the situation unfold, Paul instantly gave up the idea of forcing his way into the inner core of the Tree of Beginning.
At first, he had only been dealing with the standard sentry patrols guarding the World Tree's perimeter. But now? Now it was as if a full-blown bounty had been issued on him.
Paul was absolutely certain—if he tried to bring his team deeper inside now, he'd be facing an army of Champion-level Regi Pokémon.
So many Regi Titans... Even if it weren't him—even if you sent in the Elite Four, even if a Champion went in—they wouldn't stand a chance.
Even Red, the top-ranked Trainer in the world right now—if you tossed him in there, he'd need Mew to bail him out or he might never make it back out.
Thankfully, during the clash just now, all of Paul's Pokémon had used various status-altering moves to boost their stats.
As long as it didn't drag on, dealing with these ancient long-dormant Regi Pokémon—whose brains were clearly not firing on all cylinders—was still within reach.
With Torterra and Electivire anchoring the formation, the rest of Paul's team pushed through the Regi line under heavy assault.
Electivire soared ahead, launching Charge Beam and Thunder in rapid bursts to knock back any Regis blocking the escape route.
On the ground, Ursaluna bulldozed forward, smashing through lines of Regirock with Body Press paired with Headlong Rush, sending them flying to the sides.
The other Pokémon covered the flanks, each using their own moves to deflect incoming attacks from the Regi forces.
At a glance, the situation seemed manageable—but every time a Regi was knocked down, a soft beam of Life Energy drifted from the Tree of Beginning and fully restored its health, after which it would leap back into battle with even greater ferocity.
By the time a thoroughly battered Paul made it back to the starting point—marked by the straight path Electivire had blazed through—the rest of his team was showing visible wounds and fatigue.
It seemed they'd just crossed some kind of boundary—because all the Regis halted their attacks. They stood still, arms raised slightly, and watching silently. Their posture was clear: Take one more step, and you will be eliminated like a virus.
"Let's move."
With one final lingering glance at the group behind them, Paul turned and began walking away with his six battle-worn Pokémon. He only stopped when they reached a relatively safe distance beyond the clearing.
Truly leaving this place wasn't an option—not when opportunities like this were so rare. Naturally, he planned to stay a few more days.
At the very least, he needed to wait for his Pokégear to fully recharge. Until then, he would take advantage of the Tree of Beginnings—the primordial heart of this world—as a natural training ground.
In a way, his training efforts were also helping strengthen the "immune system" of the Tree itself.
A win-win situation—why not make the most of it?
But first, rest came before anything else.
"We'll stop here. Time to rest."
The moment Paul gave his word, all six Pokémon relaxed in unison, flopping onto the ground with zero concern for appearances.
"Torterra, use Forest's Healing."
Paul handed his Torterra an Oran Berry to restore some of its stamina before giving the command.
"Raaa~"
Munching happily, Torterra could feel strength returning to its body. With renewed energy, it cast Forest's Healing across a wide area, enveloping itself and its teammates in a radiant glow brimming with life force.
Bathed in the forest's shimmering light, all of the Pokémon began recovering steadily—fatigue faded, and injuries gradually healed.
It wasn't long before they were all back at full strength. Though their faces still showed traces of exhaustion from the battle, an unmistakable spark of excitement burned in their eyes.
Paul had defeated the so-called Mythical or Legendary Pokémon before—but not every member of his team had experienced that firsthand.
Take Hisuian Samurott for instance. Until today, it had never even encountered a Legendary Pokémon up close in real life.
To not only face one but to defeat it—that was a massive boost to its warrior spirit. Its twin blades gleamed with newfound resolve, as if unsealed from within.
It was mentally drained, yes—but the razor-sharp aura it radiated now was even stronger than before.
"Rest up, review the battle, and share what you've learned. We go again in one hour."
Paul's voice was steady and decisive.
A place like this—part sanctuary, part battleground, and part power source—wasn't something you visited just once a day. If he didn't make the most of it, the long trek to this remote wilderness would've been for nothing.
Besides, mindless battling could only take a Pokémon so far. True growth came from reflection and communication—from learning together as a team.
