Chapter 256 - Chapter 256: Paul VS Noland (Part 1) – Steel vs. Steel, Metal Burst!

Pokémon Battle Factory Showdown

The arena of the Battle Factory was unlike typical battlefields. Both Trainers stood on elevated platforms, several meters above the battleground below.

This unique design offered a strategic vantage point—perfect for observing the battle's flow and analyzing its finer details.

After a brief round of preparations, Paul and Noland were already positioned at opposite ends of the field. Off to the side, Thorton sat relaxed on a bench, casually watching the match unfold.

Referee Sergio, standing at center field on the arena's edge, raised his flag and announced:

"The Battle Factory match is about to begin! This will be a full 6-on-6 battle. Trainers are allowed to switch Pokémon mid-battle. The first side to have all of their Pokémon rendered unable to battle will be declared the loser."

"Trainers, send out your first Pokémon!"

Paul and Noland had clearly anticipated this moment. Without hesitation, both hurled their Poké Balls into the air.

"Aggron, let's go!"

"Aggron, prepare for battle!"

"Aggrr!"

"Rooo!"

Two Aggron—each resembling a living tank of steel—materialized onto the field. One was noticeably larger, its body etched with the scars of many battles. The other was slightly smaller, its steel armor refined and unblemished.

"Both of them sent out Aggron? This just got interesting."

From the edge of the field, Thorton smirked as he watched the two mirrored titans face off.

"Battle start! Challenger takes the first move!"

Referee Sergio gave the signal.

"Iron Defense!"

Having already studied Noland's team, Paul immediately chose a setup move to gain a long-term advantage.

Aggron didn't move a muscle, but its body shimmered with a white gleam. Its metallic armor began to glow, growing even denser and shinier.

Its Defense rose sharply!

"Earthquake!"

Noland, noting Paul's defensive choice, responded swiftly with a decisive attack.

With a mighty stomp, Aggron unleashed a powerful Earthquake, the shockwaves rumbling menacingly toward Paul's side.

"Heavy Slam!"

But Paul's Aggron had already reacted to the vibrations. In a flash, it sprang several meters into the air, then came crashing down toward its target with terrifying momentum.

Heavy Slam grows stronger the heavier and more defensive the user is.

Aggron, already famous for its immense weight and tough armor, had further boosted its defenses with Iron Defense. The impact of its leap—now weaponized was overwhelming.

Even another Aggron, known for its tank-like resilience, would struggle to endure such a blow.

"Lighten up—evade it! Now!"

Noland's instincts kicked in immediately. He knew better than to take that hit head-on.

"Rooo!"

Following the command, Noland's Aggron instantly reduced its body weight with a specialized technique, gaining a sudden burst of speed. With nimble footing uncharacteristic of its usual bulk, it slipped out of the attack's path just in time.

"Earthquake!"

As expected, Paul's Aggron missed its target—but upon landing, it countered fluidly by slamming the ground with its full weight, unleashing an Earthquake of its own.

Strike back with the same move!

The shockwaves roared across the field, slamming into the repositioned Aggron with punishing force.

It's super effective!

A quadruple-effective Earthquake was devastating to a Steel/Rock-type like Aggron. But thanks to its formidable defenses, it managed to withstand the blow.

"Metal Burst!"

Seeing the opening, Noland seized the opportunity.

Drawing on the damage it had just endured, Aggron began concentrating a fearsome energy in its mouth—building power forged from pain. In the blink of an eye, it unleashed a blinding blast toward its opponent with terrifying force.

There was almost no time to dodge. But Paul wasn't planning to evade.

"Iron Defense. Tank it!"

Aggron held its ground, unmoving. It braced itself and activated Iron Defense once more, doubling its already staggering defense before the blast of Metal Burst struck.

Though the power of Metal Burst was overwhelming, this was a veteran Aggron—one forged through countless battles. Even under tremendous pressure, it held its ground.

"Agggrrrrr!"

As the attack subsided, the defending Aggron bared its jagged teeth and let out a guttural roar. Its entire body lit up with a harsh metallic gleam as energy surged and gathered once more.

"Metal Burst!"

Paul gave the command.

Aggron wasted no time. The energy flared from its mouth and fired like a radiant cannon of vengeance.

"Dodge it, now!"

Even Noland hadn't anticipated such a resilient counterstrike. His voice echoed with urgency.

But he was too late.

A surge of disastrous force raced across the field. The radiant blast struck Noland's Aggron dead-on.

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion rocked the arena. The blast sent Aggron flying through the air, slamming into the reinforced alloy wall behind it—where it remained embedded and motionless.

Referee Sergio looked on, quickly assessing the situation.

"Aggron is unable to battle! The victory goes to Aggron!"

"AGGRRRR!!"

Paul's Aggron roared, its voice booming across the battlefield—a triumphant release of raw and unrelenting power.

"Return. You did great."

Noland looked at his fallen partner with respect as he recalled it into its Poké Ball.

He knew full well that a counter like that fueled by raw punishment, had drained the opposing Aggron's stamina to its limits. If he timed it right, his next Pokémon might just be able to take it down.

"Flygon, let's go!"

"Shaah~!"

Emerging in a flash of light, the new challenger soared into the air.

Its slender green body bore the shape of both dragon and dragonfly. Long antennae sprouted from its head, a striped tail swayed behind, and its distinctive red-lensed eyes gleamed sharply.

As soon as it appeared, Flygon hovered gracefully in the air, agile and alert.

Noland had a simple reason for choosing Flygon: its Ground typing gave it a clear advantage against Aggron, and with its ability to fly, it would be harder to hit—granting it control of the skies.

"Earth Power!" He commanded.

With Aggron's defenses boosted to an almost terrifying level, Earth Power offered a better chance for a one-hit takedown than Earthquake.

Flygon immediately descended to the ground to unleash the move. Waves of surging energy burst from the earth, barreling toward Aggron.

"Rock Polish to dodge!" Paul called out, fully aware that Aggron didn't have much stamina left.

"Aggrrr!"

A flash of white light shimmered across Aggron's steel-plated body as it activated Rock Polish. Its air resistance dropped dramatically, and in the blink of an eye, it rocketed out of the way with a sudden burst of speed.

Dodging the attack just in time, Aggron then launched itself into the air with surprising power. Its massive body came crashing down like a mountain, aiming to slam straight into Flygon.

Body Press!

"Dragon Dance—evade it!"

Flygon's wings beat rapidly. Its Levitate ability took effect as it ascended high into the air with a dazzling spin, using Dragon Dance to boost its Attack and Speed. It cleanly avoided the incoming slam, preparing for a counterstrike.

But before it could make a move, Flygon saw Aggron's gaping jaws below.

"Aggrrrrr!"

A deafening bellow erupted from Aggron. Within the distorted sonic waves, Flygon was suddenly enveloped in red light, recalled to its Poké Ball against its will.

Noland barely had time to register what had just happened before one of the Poké Balls at her waist popped open on its own.

"Baaa-naaah!"

A massive toad-like creature emerged, a vivid blooming flower adorning its back—Venusaur.

Still dazed from its abrupt switch-in, Venusaur barely had time to assess the situation before seeing an equally massive figure barreling toward it.

"Baa-naa!"

Fortunately, Venusaur's battle instincts kicked in. In the nick of time, it unleashed Power Whip, sending out multiple thick vines to lash at the oncoming Aggron.

However...

Before any of the vines could strike, they were met with an overwhelming wave of energy—Aggron's sheer force and momentum created a pressure so intense that it stopped the vines cold.

Before everyone's eyes and right in front of Venusaur's, Aggron's entire armored body slammed into it head-on.

BOOM!

A thunderous crash echoed across the battlefield as Venusaur was sent flying by the powerful blow, tumbling through the air before finally skidding to a stop.

Thanks to two prior uses of Iron Defense and Aggron's natural physical skills, even a Grass-type like Venusaur—with its resistance to Fighting-type moves—was left clinging to consciousness and barely hanging on.

Before Venusaur could even push itself upright, Paul's voice rang out again, cold and decisive.

"Earthquake!"

The ground roared as tremors surged outward. The seismic waves engulfed Venusaur with ease, finishing it off in a swift follow-up strike.

"Venusaur is unable to battle. Victory goes to Aggron!" referee Sergio declared.

"Return, Venusaur. You did great out there." said Noland, his expression tinged with helplessness as he recalled his partner.

That kind of sudden assault... Even if it hadn't been Venusaur, any Pokémon would've struggled to react in time.
