Lu Jinchen's breath caught in his throat as Xia Yuqing suddenly jumped down from the table. His heart nearly stopped.
"Yuqing!" he shouted, rushing forward.
She wobbled dangerously in midair, but before she could stumble, his strong arms caught her securely against his chest. For a moment, his heart pounded so hard he swore it might leap out.
"Are you crazy?" he scolded, his voice low but sharp as he held her tightly. "What if you fell? Do you think you're invincible?"
Instead of being frightened, Xia Yuqing tilted her head up and smiled at him sweetly, her eyes sparkling even in her drunken haze. "But, isn't my husband here to catch me?"
His heart skipped a beat. Her words were so soft, so sincere, that his ears burned instantly. His face flushed a deep red.
She blinked at him curiously, then giggled. "Eh? Why is your face so red?"
He coughed awkwardly, averting his gaze. "It's… hot in here."
"Really? Why don't I feel it?" she pouted.
