Lu Jinchen sat there in silence, his arms wrapped around Xia Yuqing, as her words sank into him like waves he couldn't stop.
He had expected many things when she began to tell him about her life story—maybe that she had made some kind of a deal with the original Xia Yuqing and taken her place, or a twin theory, or something weirder than that.
Perhaps she was just someone who looked alike. But to know that she came from another world entirely, that was shocking. And yet, it wasn't at the same time.
After all, his own body was being possessed by another man. If that was possible, then why couldn't she come from a different world? It almost made sense in its own strange way.
The thought that she was a monster never even crossed his mind. Not once. When he realized she was a soul from another world, living inside this body, there was only one feeling left inside him—fear.
