It took some time before Zephyr finally tore his gaze from Selene's.
His attention shifted to the two young women hovering near the table. His sister, Blaize, and Isolde, the shivering Omega who wished she could vanish in to the walls.
It did not matter to her that she was going to be named Selene's handmaiden, all she knew was that according to her rank as an omega, she was not supposed to been laughing and lounging with those she was meant to be serving.
So, when the Alpha's focus landed on her, Isolde flinched. She quickly dipped into a deep, respectful bow.
"I am here to serve breakfast, Alpha," she murmured politely. "I will be on my way out now." She didn't wait for a dismissal. After throwing a single, profoundly apologetic glance in Selene's direction, she gathered her skirts and all but fled the room, the soft click of the door echoing .
Selene's heart ached. Her disappointment was a quiet sigh within her, she really wanted to talk to Isolde.
